Potential PPVs for 2015

I agree that boxing fans, both serious and casuals, have been wanting Floyd vs Manny for years. The reason they wanted it was that they were seen as the two best p4p-fighters, and they were close enough in weight to be able to fight each other at 140-147lbs. However, this is not 2009. This is 2014.

Today both Floyd's and Manny's individual PPV-numbers are plunging.

They are no longer dominating boxing as they used to.

Today GGG is dominating in the sport (sport, not in the PPV-numbers) the same way Floyd and Manny did in 2009, and he is the favorite to win all fights 154-160lbs.

The fight Floyd vs Manny is more a nostalgic exhibition-fight, than anything else, because it is no longer a fight about who is the best p4p-fighter. GGG is definitely a better p4p-fighter today than both Floyd and Manny.

But yes, casual boxing fans want to see the nostalgic exhibition-match between Floyd and Manny. However, they much prefer Golovkin vs Mayweather which will be a more dramatic fight.

Casual boxing fans want drama and in Golovkin vs Mayweather they will get great drama.

The fight Manny vs Floyd doesn't create as much drama, because Manny doesn't have the ferociousness he had 5 years ago.

Casual boxing fans know what I wrote above, and those who don't know it will be informed during the promotion, so Golovkin vs Mayweather will get the highest PPV-numbers.

You are confusing quality for marketability, as you should have realized by now. GGG might be the best in the world right now. So what. He has ZERO credibility as a PPV attraction. You can talk all you want about how much FM and MP are slipping. Their numbers are still by far the best in the business now. So of course a fight between the two of them is the biggest PPV event right now. The idea of making a GGG fight as big as that one through a clever 3-6 month promotion is totally absurd.

Now it starts to be clear where you are coming from. Sure, Mayweather is a well known name in the sports world and among the public. Most people in the public know him as a supporter of women assaults. What do you want to achieve by focusing on people knowing Mayweather's name? Who more than Mayweather would like to be well known to the public as a supporter of women assaults?

But sure, people will know who he is when it's time for fight promotion, but since most casuals have a negative view of Mayweather's personality, many of them will only buy PPVs if Floyd fights a boxer who can knock him out. Ruslan can knock Floyd out, so Floyd vs Ruslan would sell very well, maybe even over 1.5 million PPVs.

Provodnikov would not win a single second of a single round against Floyd Mayweather. He was made to look like a horrific bum by Chris Algieri ffs! No one knows who he is let alone would think he would have a chance with Mayweather.

Or more likely people paid to see Mike Tyson, a proven attraction like Pacquiao, rather than a competitive match. People in the boxing business would laugh at how naïve you are.
