However I recognize that I'm in the minority on this. I have many friends who are big time sports fans. None of them know much about boxing. I could show them a picture of GGG and they would have no idea who the hell he is. And these are huge sports fans.

I like your enthusiasm but your numbers are delusional.

Most casuals are aware of Floyd, and most sports fans keep themselves updated with the latest in sports. New world champions are born every week and sports fans are aware of this process. Therefore it will be very easy to sell in Floyd against the best current fighter, who also happens to be a knockouts-artist. This matchup contains so much potential drama that nobody would miss it, not even your friends who know nothing about boxing.

Boxing is in itself a setup for major dramas, which attract many casual fans to the sport. The more potential dramas, the higher PPV numbers. Of course your friends wouldn't miss a match where there is a high possibility of Floyd being knocked out....would they?

Ruslan is ducked by most other fighters, and it is for a good reason. They don't want to be knocked out. However, this danger of being knocked out, can be switched into higher PPV numbers because of the potential drama.

There's going to be a backlash if those two don't end up fighting yet again add to that they are running out of options as genuine opponents, their numbers are going to keep dropping.

Floyd will never fight GGG and you can't blame him for that...
Why can't you blame him for that? ...GGG is willing to fight Floyd at 154lbs, where Floyd has had a belt for over two years, and also had a belt in 2007.

...so Floyd can fight Cotto at 160lbs, but cannot fight GGG at 154lbs? ...and I agree that a Cotto 2 match would do less than 1 million because it would probably be a terribly boring fight.

GGG is already well known among most sports-interested people because of him having the world's highest knockout record.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather is an easy sell, but Mayweather vs Golovkin will be an even easier sell because of GGG's current form.

Nobody would want to miss when Floyd takes on an in form knockouts-artist because of the uncertainty of the situation...

...What will happen? Will Floyd's skills be enough? Will Floyd be able to counterpunch himself out of GGG's pressure? Will Floyd be knocked down? etc. etc...there will be so many questions that everyone would like to see the answers to. Hence it being a more attractive match today than Pacquiao vs Mayweather, where there will be fewer questions.

I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, but you seem to confuse what you think should be and the reality of what the market is. Boxing fans, both serious and casual, have followed Pacquiao for years. They've wanted Floyd-Pac for years, and still do. There is NO way you're going to create the same interest in Floyd-GGG in just a few months. There is no comparison between the potential of the two PPV's. You should accept that and move on.

Provodnikov is a glorified club fighter and no one knows who the *** he is. The only way it would sell 800k is on Mayweather's name alone.

You clearly have absolutely no grasp on reality or are just trolling or incredibly stubborn. How many people have said you're delusional now? I've lost count.

I agree that boxing fans, both serious and casuals, have been wanting Floyd vs Manny for years. The reason they wanted it was that they were seen as the two best p4p-fighters, and they were close enough in weight to be able to fight each other at 140-147lbs. However, this is not 2009. This is 2015.

Today both Floyd's and Manny's individual PPV-numbers are plunging.

They are no longer dominating boxing as they used to.

Today GGG is dominating in the sport (sport, not in the PPV-numbers) the same way Floyd and Manny did in 2009, and he is the favorite to win all fights 154-160lbs.

The fight Floyd vs Manny is more a nostalgic exhibition-fight, than anything else, because it is no longer a fight about who is the best p4p-fighter. GGG is definitely a better p4p-fighter today than both Floyd and Manny.

But yes, casual boxing fans want to see the nostalgic exhibition-match between Floyd and Manny. However, they much prefer Golovkin vs Mayweather which will be a more dramatic fight.

Casual boxing fans want drama and in Golovkin vs Mayweather they will get great drama.

The fight Manny vs Floyd doesn't create as much drama, because Manny doesn't have the ferociousness he had 5 years ago.

Casual boxing fans know what I wrote above, and those who don't know it will be informed during the promotion, so Golovkin vs Mayweather will get the highest PPV-numbers.

Now it starts to be clear where you are coming from. Sure, Mayweather is a well known name in the sports world and among the public. Most people in the public know him as a supporter of women assaults. What do you want to achieve by focusing on people knowing Mayweather's name? Who more than Mayweather would like to be well known to the public as a supporter of women assaults?

But sure, people will know who he is when it's time for fight promotion, but since most casuals have a negative view of Mayweather's personality, many of them will only buy PPVs if Floyd fights a boxer who can knock him out. Ruslan can knock Floyd out, so Floyd vs Ruslan would sell very well, maybe even over 1.5 million PPVs.

Get HBO! You make a fool out of yourself not knowing who Gennady Golovkin is.
