This article makes it sound like Matthysse's hearing nothing about a Broner fight. Based on Broner's comments, he is hearing about a Matthysse fight.

So both guys are getting lied to, they won't fight, and we'll unfortunately end up with disappointing fights for both.

Yea, I would venture Haymon wants Matthysse to take the WBO title from Algieri in vacant title match. If it turns out to be Provodnikov (possibly on HBO) I'd guess he won't let it happen.
