  • Comments Thread For: Stevenson's Trainer 100% Confident Adonis KO's Kovalev

Javan 'Sugar' Hill, trainer of WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (25-1, 21KOs), is 100% confident that his boxer will score a knockout win over WBA/WBO/IBF champion Sergey Kovalev (26-0-1, 23KOs).

Kovalev is facing Jean Pascal on March 14th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. The World Boxing Council has ordered Stevenson to face the winner of that fight. Stevenson has already picked Kovalev to defeat Pascal, by knockout, and wants to face the dangerous Russian next. Stevenson will return in April against an opponent to be determined.

Let me guess, with the left hand? Because it seems that its the only punch the duck knows how to throw. Let Adonis rush in looking for the knockout, and the krusher puts him to sleep in the first round.

      One hand

You are right Adonis moves well just paws with right and loads up bomb after bomb with left. It is unusual because if you you tube Stevenson hitting the pads with Emanuel steward he has a sharp fast thudding right jab that he is not using as a pro wasting a talent and a major weapon check it out

Well,if he's got more weapons hidden in his arsenal,he'd better bring them all out against kovalev, because I can guarantee you that kovalevs camp is going to train him to avoid and counter stevensons left. We might end up seeing Adonis and sergey switching back and forth between trying to slug it out,and trying to box one another. Who knows?

Stevenson doesn't seem very confident in his chances of beating Kovalev, if he was the fight would have happened last year. You can talk all day about it but fact is fights are won in the ring and not out of it.

Watch those early fights, you'll see Stevenson using both hands. And some of the KO blows coming from the right.
Adonis Stevenson knows how to use his left, but it doesn't mean the right hand has no power. Because if you watch carefully, if Stevenson needs to use his right, he'll use it and it hurts.
              - Just look his right arm, it's a copy of the left.
The more dangerous you are, the better Stevenson becomes. Adonis Stevenson is a strong natural smart fighter which will KO Kovalev easy.

why wont the wbc force leo to fight rigo like they are forcing stevenson to fight kovalev

they could have a WBC card promoted by stevenson's promoter and leo an al haymon guy shouldnt be hard to do..but rigo's promoter might be a bit of a snag..i dont see why he hasnt sent leo and haymon contracts yet

Right on. If the Duck Team were so sure that Adonis would beat Kovalev they could have have gone ahead with that fight for Kathy Duva then moved on to a big unification battle with BHop afterwards. That would have been by far the best option, financially and in every other way - IF they thought Adonis would beat Kovalev.
