    Hopkins UD. Very few Middleweights in history could beat a prime Hopkins.
    I agree. Good catch Natas, 'prime for prime' I still give Bhop the edge.

      Young Hopkins was a MASTER at what he did and would nullify GGG and win by a decent stretch. GGG needs time and defenses to be mentioned in a potential matchup.

        Right now I give the great Hopkins the edge but if GGG continues to knock out better fighters I might give him the edge. I can't think of any middleweight Hopkins beat in his 20 odd title defenses who was as good as GGG or hit as hard.

          Prime Hopkins at MW getting a little overrated. If you look at the MW division post Hagler, I'd rate Toney #1, McCallum #2, Nunn #3, and Hopkins #4. The best win on Bernard's resume at MW was Trinidad followed by Holmes with Allen and Eastman following. He then lost fair and square to Jermain Taylor 2x.

          Bernard had a long reign, but he simply didn't have many tests (which helps you have a long reign).

            Prime Hopkins could judge distance, a lot of fighters get caught by GGG cos he has great footwork, especially for someone who is a power puncher. Many of boxing's greatest power punchers have not had world class footwork, GGG does but Hopkins is built for that, he has trained for it, he loves it. He would wait for GGG, catch him with a left hook or over hand right and pop back out of range before GGG can even get his feet in order.

            GGG, for all his power, would have a chance but it would be a punchers chance, however how often can he land clean if Tito couldn't catch Hopkins, and lest we forget, Tito was one of the most fluid punchers ever, a true combination puncher with some of the quickest hands of his generation, for all GGGs gifts, he pales in comparison to Tito. Oh and Hopkins stopped Tito at a time when Tito looked impregnable...can GGGs chin hold up?

              As it stands?

              X makes him quit with lowblows. He'd direct 90% of his punches below the belt and make GGG end up folding.

              Not really a fair fight at all.

                I was thinking the same thing. Not sure who wins but it's not a walk over like some of you guys are saying.

                      @El-blanco

                      hopkins was also 10 years younger when he was the lineal mw champion of the world... like i said mw hopkins feasted on fighters like GGG,come foward guys with power like tito,joppy, mercado even echols had some power...GGG is the more technically sound fighter i believe but he hasnt beaten anyone at mw to even give me the slightest thought that GGG can beat Hopkins at 160 imo.

                      And Ftr, i think hopkins who beat tarver 9 years ago would have feasted on kovalev too dawgie! Lol
