According to ESPN, Isaac Chilemba vs. Artur Beterbiev has been proposed for the March 14 HBO telecast.
Promoters Main Events and InterBox are working on the undercard for the fight between unified light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev (26-0-1, 23 KOs) and former champion Jean Pascal (29-2-1, 17 KOs), which will take place March 14 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Pascal’s hometown. HBO is hoping to put on a tripleheader.
Main Events CEO Kathy Duva told ESPN.com that she hopes that one of the bouts will pit light heavyweight Isaac Chilemba (23-2-2, 10 KOs), 27, of South Africa, against red-hot prospect Artur Beterbiev (7-0, 7 KOs), 29, the two-time Russian Olympian now living in Montreal who drilled former titleholder Tavoris Could in the second round in September.
Duva said it’s a fight HBO wants, adding that Chilemba has agreed to take the match. Duva said she is waiting to hear back from Beterbiev promoter Yvon Michel to see if they are interested.
