People undervalue how lucky we are to see Rigondeaux as a pro

He's the best fighter in the world P4P.
You can look at the amateur achievements or what he done as a pro in the space of his first 12 fights or you can just look at him as a fighter; the skill level is frightening, his defence is unreal, he's lightning fast, he hits hard, his footwork is second to none....just the complete fighter.
And you're only as good as your opposition, rigo faced one top fighter (who many on here refer to as being a hypejob bum) but of course he's ahead of Floyd, Pac, Ward, Waldimir etc...
''Forget the opposition, just look at how good he looks against these bums folks''! ~ Rigo fans.Comment

Really? Look at this ******ed thread, these fools say Rigo is the best pound for pound, he hasn't done **** besides Donaire.Comment

I just reread this and you are complaining about my high rating of GGG not Rigo.Unbelievable. Anybody who doesn't think GGG is a great fighter is an idiot when it comes to boxing. I want to make you look like the boxing moron that you are so please tell us what middleweight in the entire world can beat GGG????? What is his name????? If you can't name any 160 pounder who can beat him then he is a great fighter like I said. He has 18 KOs in a row over mostly top ten world rated middleweights not tomato cans, so get your damn facts straight.Comment

So Rigo is this magnificent talent better than Floyd, Pac, Ali, Duran, Leonard etc...
If he's so ridiculously talented he could move up to a more competitive 126, but his fans say he shouldn't because he is too small, wlel if he was so great he could do it and try and try to get fights with these dangerous opponents but we know he won't.Comment

Having said that, he has called out fighters at 126lbs and just like at 122lbs, there are not serious takers of his challenge.
In regards to the Lomachenko comparisons, lets make one thing clear; The only reason Lomachenko was hyped at the 2008 Olympics was because Rigondaeux himself was banned form those games. Rigondeaux was undoubtedly known as the best amateur fighter in the world by far. Lomachenko would have had very little hype in those Olympics had Rigondeaux attended them. Adding to that, the amatuer level and competition in Cuba is a lot harder and more competitive than that of the Ukraine, Rigo faced much harder opposition year after year in his amateur career than Lomachenko.
Go back and look at their Olympics bouts, Lomachenko had some close calls in some of those bouts, while Rigondeaux outclasses every opponent he faced.
Let's also not forget, Lomachenko, regardless of how good he looks, has only fought one proven fighter in the pros, and to him he lost. Salido.
Let's not hype him up that much. I was ringside for his bout against Russell Jr and the kid is without a doubt a great fighter, but to say he's better than Rigondeaux in the pros or even less in the amateurs is just absurd.Last edited by SonOfCuba; 12-30-2014, 07:37 PM.Comment

Laszlo Papp is the GOAT amateur.. Papp was an Olympic gold medalist three times, at middleweight in London in 1948, then as a light middleweight in Helsinki in 1952 and in Melbourne in 1956. He scored 55 first round knockouts as an amateur. Even Teofilio Stevenson cites him as the greatest & so does the guy Ali beat to win LHW gold too!
Rigondeaux is a jelly jawed glove puppet who got dropped by a Flyweights jab! Richly talented but boring as **** & packing glass too...
We are privileged to watch many supreme talents right now, Rigondeaux is just one..Comment

But none of those guys have the amateur resume that Felix Savon has, and him is who I consider the greatest amateur fighter of all times.
No record comes close and I doubt one ever will. (see attached image)
