  • Comments Thread For: Arum: Chavez vs. Froch Fight Reports are Not True!

There are reports surfacing out of the UK that a bout between super middleweights Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is very close to a deal to take place in Las Vegas on March 28th. But Bob Arum, the chairman of Top Rank, which is embroiled in a lawsuit with Chavez Jr. over his promotional contract, says otherwise.

Froch vs Degale is a much better fight IMO.

If Chavez really does owe Arum 1 more fight before breaking free than just fight a stay busy fight with some journeyman and get and quick easy "W" and then go for a mega fight with Froch.

Hearn only said he talked to Haymon about. I think it's just the UK press running with it. Arum made it clear no official negotiations can occur without TR's involvement. Julio is under contract with TR for one more fight before Oct. 2015.

Agreed. It would be easier and less expensive for Chavez to give Top Rank one more fight and be done with it otherwise this is going to get very messy and very expensive with litigation and attorney fees.

I'd go the easy route but then again I'm an outsider looking in, I don't no the intricacies of this dispute.

I really like Chavez vs Froch though. Their styles match up perfectly. Neither fighter would have to look for the other.

So what? The fact that Arum built his reputation doesn't mean that Chavez owes him for the rest of his life. Both sides benefitted from the relationship. Arum made millions of dollars promoting Chavez, so he didn't exactly do Chavez any favors.
