Why does anyone have to be "afraid"? From what I know Quillin had a tough upbringing and Golovkin faced plenty of different styles in the amateurs. Boxing is about earning money so of course they want to get paid for the toughest fights.

        • Has Quillin even headline as the main event before?

He's only co-main'd once. Against Fernando Guerrero under Garcia-Judah. Otherwise he's opened triple & quadruple headers.

That's why I say he turned down more the $1.4mill and his title, he gave up a chance to get himself some major attention & recognition - ask marketing people, that's worth more than the money & belt.

You have to actually enter a negotiation for that to happen and Golovkin's team were not willing to do that because Ward "doesn't make financial sense" and doesn't bring enough money to the table and isn't a big pay per view fight.

Like I said, stop being pedantic. All the statements are connected and very similar. Golovkin wants to be paid well to take a very risky fight against Ward.
So you are gradually backing away from "GGG has made identical statements about Ward" towards: "GGG's trainer said something similar" (in your view)

Will you call me a pedant if I point out that "Similar" and "Identical" have different meanings?

And I don't agree that what Abel Sanchez said about Ward was at all similar to what Quillin said about GGG. In fact, I would say that the two statements were completely different, both in meaning and in context.

"When was Ward even given a chance?" Are you serious? Sanchez must have had some reason for saying what he did. And if he was wrong, Ward could have just said so. The only thing we've heard from Andre is that he needs a couple of tune-ups first. In other words, he doesn't want to fight GGG yet.
