I think he lacks the power to give the top guys problems. He'll probably win the first few rounds of this fight then get hit with something big and move too much for the rest of the fight to convincingly win rounds. Can't see him getting ko'd as he'll be hard for Kovalev to find.

Kovalev wins this any way he wants, and that's not to be disrespectful of Pascal. I just can't see Pascal enjoying any success against Sergey.

You've mentioned this "gentleman's agreement" a couple of times before. It's a nice idea but would never happen in such an important fight. Neither man could trust the other to stick to it if the "boxing match" was going against him.

Kovalev came from poverty in Russia to make a better life for himself and his family. If he'd lost to BHop that dream would have ended. No way would he agree to restrain his KO power, which is his greatest asset in a fight.

I have great respect for Hopkins now, just for taking that fight. But in the ring, Bernard is no gentleman. Kovalev's trainer knows him as well as anyone, and would expect BHop to try and take advantage of a pact like that if they were crazy enough to give him the chance.

The fight turned into a boxing match because each man was wary of the other. Bhop knew Krusher could take him out with one punch if he got the chance. Kovalev knew that Bhop would use his head, elbows, whatever, if he didn't keep him at long range.

But Krusher wasn't having a boxing match in the second round, or the 12th. He was going for the KO with everything he had. BHop was just too cute and slippery though.

As I said, nice idea, but no way!

... Well: Kovalev floored Hopkins as fast as he usually does with all his opponents, but further didn't go for the "kill"... Instead, Kovalev chose to fight B-Hop with deference (i.e. the way of behaving that shows respect for someone)... OK, Kovalev was in control and chose to play it safe, from the distance, because he knew he was able to... Hopkins (who is, of course, very experienced and intelligent) chose not to fight dirty or look for a DQ decision (which would have been a possible approach)
... This fight was "business-oriented" and looked like a peaceful "PASSING THE TORCH" between gentlemen, as I suspected in the first place.

i think he just had strict instructions from jackson to fight at an even pace, conserve stamina, and not go head-hunting
