Comments Thread For: John Duddy Lands Role in Hands of Stone Movie

The retired boxer known as the Derry Destroyer has landed a Hollywood film role after impressing Robert de Niro. John Duddy will be on cinema screens with the legendary US actor next year in boxing movie Hands Of Stone.

In the meantime, the 35-year-old, who retired from boxing in 2011, is doing "honest work" as a removal man for a company based in the Bronx area of New York "until the next best thing comes along".

    I hope this doesn't parlay into a Quillin-Duddy fight.

How long have they been making this move? Seems like it's been years.

Good for him. I remember him making a brief appearance in the TV series Lights Out.

Yeah, was good fun. Flawed and clichéd in places but worth seeing for any boxing fans

Ok so John Duddy is playing the role of Ken Buchanan....John Duddy fought at middleweight (160 lbs) and Duran fought Ken Buchanan at lightweight (135 lbs). So did Johhn Duddy have to drop a lot of weight to play the role?
