Even fury has better skills than him. He looks clumsy at times and his right hand is pretty much the only thing keeping him competitive. What bothers me is that he doesn't seem to have developed skill wise for someone with 30 or more fights. If he had a more Tommy hearns-esque style he could become a real monster but sadly he doesn't. He seems like a respectable guy when he isn't trash talking. If he used his reach more and developed some decent footwork then he could become something special. If he beats Stiverne then I'll take notice but right now he doesn't seem like that much
It's this that make me think that if Steward will still alive he'd have loved to have trained Wilder. I think he could have developed him into a better fighter.

The people in this thread are not the people that come to mind when I think of people hating on Wilder. And really it has little to do with race and more like nationalism, but it is certainly within reason to question Wilder. Now those people have said a lot of things so they have to ride now with it, which works out fine because he is still very unproven so who knows if he is the next Micheal Grant or the next George Foreman or anywhere in between.

If Wilder turns out to be real it is going to turn very quickly though and people will be going crazy about him. He is a real guy if he can beat Stiverne but the hype he would get from that would outweigh what that would most likely mean.

Wilder-Stiverne will be the most important fight of 2015, unless Pacquiao-Mayweather happens.

People see that his opposition has been weak and feel the need to associate that with being a fraud. I agree with the opposition aspect but also feel that he has the kind of power that makes up for deficiencies in other areas of one's skillset. Should I be correct, Stiverne will be forced to take a knee early on and subsequently forced to to exit the fight via TKO/KO and later concede that Wilder is better than he initially thought.

The reason we haven't seen Deontay's skill is because he has never really been challenged. His power gets the job done early, and he never needs to switch to a plan B.

However, that doesn't mean he lacks skill. I'm absolutely certain that there is a more technical side of Wilder we have never seen. Mark Breland is one of the best trainers in boxing, and Deontay has sparred with some of the best heavyweights in the sport.

Hopefully we will see some of this skill when a tough Stiverne takes him into uncharted territory on January 17th.
I haven't seen a star heavyweight being brought along this slowly since... um,never.

I think that's why people think something's up.

We should know what the truth is in less than a month.

Lot of people will be screaming I told you so, one way or the other.

I don't think that many people on here hate him. Guys like Khan, Danny Garcia, Broner are way more hated.

Wilder is just overhyped. I'd take Wlad, Fury, Povetkin over him all day
