Marco antonio Rubio underrated

Golovkin fought another soft touch, in a pretty sturdy line of soft touches; to try and build a basis for Rubio, to try and justify the Golovkin person is disingenuous.I can't help but feel Rubio is very underrated on these boards. I see guys who call him a bum and a chump. But after watching some fight footage of him I'm actually kind of a fan now.
I'll admit he seemed okay at the end of the golovkin ko but he never behaved like that when getting stopped by guys earlier on in his career. I like golovkin too so I just think rubio's legs gave out. However style wise Rubio is pretty good. He doesn't get hit as often as you'd think because he covers up well and he's got good punching power. Granted some of his opponents weren't the best opposition but it can still be said he has had a good career behind him.
Some golovkin haters seem annoyed that he didn't end the hype while some golovkin fans just seen to talk him down. I reckon Rubio is actually much better than people give him credit for. Unfortunately nsb logic results in him becoming a bumComment

Guys I'm not a blind golovkin fan. I still think he is beatable unlike some of the guys calling him an atg already. But what I am annoyed at is how people easily write off guys like Rubio when they have probably never boxed before. Try and go pro and see if you do as well as he does. What I'm saying is that in general nsb seems to view guys like Rubio as bums when rubio actually has some good skills.Comment

He's clearly not a bum (horrible term. Then again I didn't see the Golovkin fight, only read the reports).
I think he's rated about where he should be, as a top contender - maybe good enough to get one of the 'real' belts from the 4 main organisations in a weak division, but not good enough to beat a strong champion.
I don't agree that he was GGG's best win. I would happily listen to the argument from anybody and enjoy discussing it, but for me GGG's best win was Geale, followed closely by Rubio & Macklin.Comment

The thing that amazes me is..when there were rumors of Cotto fighting Rubio it was called a cherry pickComment

Really!? I actually would have liked to see that fight. Cotto isn't a genuine middleweight so it would be interesting to see what he does. And he will never have fought anyone with such a difference of height. But naturally it would be called a cherry pick.Comment
