I thought Murray won it in Argentina. It took Murray a bit to warm up to the occasion, but Sergio looked like complete crap fumbling around, but people will probably blame it on the outdoor venue and the rain.

I believe the ref even called one of the KDs a slip. Not to mention Murray even outlanded Martinez.

Agreed. Lara wouldn't likely have much chance to win, but it be interesting to see Golovkin against Lara's evasive style.

Where with Murray, he's slow footed, no power and hides behind a shell which won't help against Golovkin.

Murray is going to take massive left hooks to the body if he shells up.

          Yep. I don't see a competitive fight.

I agree with the previous posted in that GGG certainly passes the eye test and may certainly be the goods, but why the hesitation to fight a credible opponent. Same thing can be said of M Garcia, P Quillen and many others.
Ward is inactive and was only using golovkin's name to stay on people's minds. Ward isn't going to come back and fight GGG as his first fight back from a long break...he would get destroyed and he knows. Hopefully that fight does happen though.

Lara? Please. Golovkin has an exclusive contract with hbo and hbo certainly has no interest in showing freaking Lara, never mind that he is a Haymon fighter. You know this. If that fight were to happen , GGG would win by ko and then people on this board will complain and say he's picking on junior middleweights.

GGG-Lara would be an absolute joke of a fight dude. Lara is the same guy who hit the deck twice vs. Angulo.

There can be no questions about your chin for you to have chance against Golovkin. Even then, you're probably going to get decisioned by him.

Neither would be competitive. The only thing Lara would offer is a slight curiosity to see how long it takes Golovkin to knock him out since Lara would be on the back foot all night. If those are the two choices I'd go with the ranked middleweight verses an unranked middleweight. Regardless it's not like Lara can fight on HBO anyways, not any time soon at least. I'd rather see Lara try to capture a belt at 154 first.

I don't think Murray is going to even offer much action. He just looks lousy against guys like Spada, Bursak, Khomitsky. I don't see him even doing as well as Adama and possibly quiting like Rubio which makes for a very unsatisfying night.

With Lara it's a fresh style. Angulo got to Lara but paid the price, where Alvarez looked helpless. Lara also looked good vs Trout & Williams, the quality is there, additionally he re-hydrates into the 170's like Golovkin so there's not so much a size issue - in fact there was a crazy re-hydration clause when he fought Angulo. Fast feet, fast accurate hands, and unlimited stamina all good tools needed to test Golovkin.

Rosado stayed on the backfoot, lost every round, but marked up a sick Golovkin more than anyone to date. Ian Gardner also gave Golovkin one of his toughest fights to date. Outside of the top SMW's, I'd pick Lara to push Golovkin the most, more than Quillin, Lee, Cotto, Alvarez, or Lemieux. One guy is a master at being evasive, the other a master at hunting down.

I like your points, you make a solid case, I just don't agree with you mainly because I don't see Lara as any kind of master boxer. He's a good boxer, but not elite or great. The problem with Lara is not letting his hands go. We saw that against a bigger, at least heavier Canelo, where Lara would dance and dodge shots, but he rarely if ever put together more than two shots at a time. So while he was moving and dancing, Canelo was working his body and winning rounds. That kind of style, while I agree will probably allow him a chance to survive longer, is not going to get himself winning any rounds against a guy like GGG, who unlike Canelo who is a boxer-puncher by nature, GGG is a guy that's going to be hunting Lara and cutting off the ring and doing damage. It would look more like the first half of the Lara vs Angulo fight, except it would end in a stoppage because there is nothing in Lara's arsenal that's going to get Golovkin's respect. Compare that to Murray who is a natural middleweight, a guy who while is no KO artist, has more behind his punches than Lara.

Again, I just don't see GGG getting any credit for beating Lara. People want him to fight top middleweights and Murray is a top middleweight.
