From my understanding, HBO was said to have guaranteed some level of something for Pacquiao; if HBO has no stake in Pacquiao, forcing HBO into the Mayweather-Pacquiao talks makes no sense.Comment

HBO didn't lose any money on those fights. PPV monies are always guaranteed by the promoter, not the network. The fight was shown on HBO PPV (not the same as regular HBO) and they take about 50% of the gross revenue. Floyd however,is guaranteed about 32 million per fight by Showtime (the network).
The fact that SHO-HBO is the default position in the Mayweather-Pacquiao talks leads me to the conclusion that HBO, like Showtime, has a stake in Manny Pacquiao, leaving them to share in the losses on the two Macau fights.Comment

If the PPV monies are guaranteed by the promoter and not HBO, why is HBO being forced into the Mayweather-Pacquiao talks? (50% actually goes to Comcast/Dish/DirectTV/AT&T Uverse/etc, but that's a separate conversation)

not the other way around. Keep on trying.Comment

Really don't give a dam how much money each fighter makes buts let's be realistic here for once. What ever amount of money may would earn in this fight has to do with his opponent in this case it not just an opponent it's pac. With out pac may doesn't earn that money with someone else. So it's a guaranteed purse reguardless of pacs losses or declining ppv numbers, why on earth would pac accept anything but a 50/50 split anything less then that is bull crap and pac would be an idiot for accepting less. Anybody who thinks different is a moron
Mayweather doesn't need Pacquiao and hasn't needed Pacquiao for a while.Comment

Showtime has reported they have lost over 16 million dollars on May's last two fights due to declining PPV sales.....
Where exactly do you see the cash how status??where exactly do you see justification for May to have a MUCH bigger cut for a Pac showdown....
tell me why 40-60 split is UNFAIR to May??? (Only due to May being the undefeated fighter otherwise it would be 50/50 IMO)

Split is not the issue. Manny already said its not about the Money. The issue in hand is May 2nd. Oscar already said they will pull out of May for Floyd. So is May 2nd still an issue for Arum? The networks what it, the fans want it, Oscar and Canelo want it, Floyd wants it, but do Arum and Packie want it? Everyone is down for May 2nd. What's the hold up?Comment
