It's Arum that doesn't want the fight to be on May 2nd . . . Why is sort of unclear, considering Cotto is pretty much his interest, and well, as others have stated being the A side also, should mean the fight takes place when he wants. But Now Arum and Oscar are buddies does that conflict with what Floyd wants. Ofcourse the Elephant in the room is Arum is just saying this to avoid a Floyd fight.

I think since Canelo wants to fight on Mexican holiday, he should take his happy ass to Mexico and fight there, if he really cares about the Mexican people.

Plenty of Lightweights that can move up and fight him at 155.

Funny thing is May 5th is really not that big of a deal in Mexico. The only reason its a big deal for Canelo and Oscar is because of $$$$.

The other thing that should be mentioned is, If he doesn't fight Floyd in May, Pac will almost certainly go up against Vargas and Crawford at the end of '15. . . both inhouse TR fighters, so even if this cold war BS is over, Arum is still not allowing Pac to get in the ring with the likes of Thurman, Porter, Maidana etc.

It's not the date precisely, it's just the first Saturday in May, which fluctuates between around the first 5 days or so.

This year was May 3rd, and next year is May 2nd.

I think its a game to Arum.

I think he will let Floyd dictate the least amount of things possible.

He will fight Floyd on everything imaginable. date, venue, sponsors, promotional tour schedual, name of the event...

Thats his job anyway. The only thing that matters is if he really wants to make the fight.
