Anytime you struggle in a professional boxing match or dont get the ko you are overrated and a hype job. However kieth needs to work on his inside game and defense
Struggle vs people struggling to throw punches brehs
I get annoyed when fans boo fights for no reason. If you want to see two guys just throwing crazy ***** go see a tough man contest. But on the other hand, this fight was a snoozefest.
I have seen Thurman fight careful fights before against punchers. He would box at a distance and strike like a snake when the opening came and then finish the guy. But this Bundo seemed so harmless that I could not understand why Thurman fought such a cautious safety first backpedaling fight and I still don't understand it. I think he should have gone after that guy and tried to get him out of there. I think the booing fans thought the same thing. Why was Thurman being so over cautious?
He is not a hypejob, I am still a fan, but he definitely showed his limitations and it seems like he wasn't genuine about the whole being a throwback fighter. It seems like he can only fight on the outside, and can't really take a shot. People can say he boxed beautifully but they have a very limited concept of what boxing is, by their logic inside fighting is not a skill because boxing only means to move away and potshot.
He's a pretty humble guy it seems. He gives credit where credit is due and knows what he's talking about. He doesn't go "Oh they both get stomped out no problem" but he actually gives you insight and an honest answer.
It was a rough fight because his opponent was awkward for him. Give him Maidana or Porter and everybody will be on his nuts again.
I will definitely agree that he is ****y as hell up front but when it comes down to it, he is very critical of himself and honest about his assessment which is a pretty rare thing.
Why so many people are mad at him cause he said that he KO Bundu inside 4 rounds and he called out Floyd etc...
You really buy anything what a professional fighter says before his fight to promote himelf? It's just PR, sel promotion, don't feel yourself cheated. Almost every fighter promises KO's, lol...
I mean I can't say anything more common in this sport than X says that he will KO Y.
I can't believe it but I respect thurman more now. I normally hate on him but this is simply a learning curve for him. All these guys who hyped him up like crazy are now calling him a hypejob simply because they have the dumb logic that if you box you are boring. Sure, knockouts generate interest and make for a good highlight reel but if you are booing someone because they can't knock someone out then you should think about stopping "following" boxing.
Thurman showed his limitations and normally I would jump on this but he was very honest in his criticism of himself. I find it funny how some fellow UK fans called thurman overhyped yet he managed to beat bundu, who soundly beat an overhyped frankie gavin. And sure he revealed holes in his defense but it wasn't a close fight. People say that bundu switching southpaw confused him but what do you expect. Most times that confuses fighters.
People who booed thurman obviously weren't his fans. The guy can't stop everybody and if you think that then you are the one who has overhyped him.
