    Freddie Roach as a pro

How good was Freddie Roach as a pro? What was his strong side and what was his weak side?

Sadly with roach, he was where the term "punching bag" originated from.... he was a fun fighter, who made for fun fights, but he just wasn't a talented fighter... truth is that he is a better trainer, then he was a pro boxer..

I think Roach just had two bad sides, he is the living version of the adage: "Those who can't do teach"

This is true of a lot of trainers/coaches.

            Phil Jackson
            Jim Harbaugh
            Joe Torre.

I'm sad to hear so. I thought he would have been a good pro, since he's such a good trainer.

Many of the great trainers were not great boxers themselves. Angelo Dundee never even fought.

                  His record was won 40 (KO 15) + lost 13 (KO 3) + drawn 0 = 53 fights total

He would have had to be a HOF-tier fighter is he was to be a better pro fighter than he is a trainer though.
