WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. had the entire boxing world talking after his Showtime televised interview on Friday night. Mayweather responded to the circulating information of a deal being negotiated for a 2015 super-fight with WBO champion Manny Pacquiao.
Because of Mayweather's on-air comments, Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has serious doubts that fight with Pacquiao will take place. Mayweather stated that Pacquiao now deserves less money than the previous offer of $40 million dollars which Mayweather extended to him in early 2012. Mayweather also made a demand for the fight to take place on Showtime Pay-Per-View, while Pacquiao and his promoter Top Rank are looking for a joint network collaboration with HBO.
