  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: In My Opinion, No Mayweather-Pacquiao

WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. had the entire boxing world talking after his Showtime televised interview on Friday night. Mayweather responded to the circulating information of a deal being negotiated for a 2015 super-fight with WBO champion Manny Pacquiao.

Because of Mayweather's on-air comments, Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has serious doubts that fight with Pacquiao will take place. Mayweather stated that Pacquiao now deserves less money than the previous offer of $40 million dollars which Mayweather extended to him in early 2012. Mayweather also made a demand for the fight to take place on Showtime Pay-Per-View, while Pacquiao and his promoter Top Rank are looking for a joint network collaboration with HBO.

This is confusing... is he saying Khan is the fight the world wants to see and he doesn't think it's going to happen? Or is he saying Pac is the fight the world wants to see and Khan is the fight he doesn't think is going to happen?

Oscar is now kissing Arum's ass. I really hope Cotto insists on changing the date because it's like Oscar and Arum are both on the same page to make Cotto-Canelo happen in May. It's up to Cotto to **** up their plan.

Cotto is going to insist on MSG as the venue ... Which is going to screw both ODLH and Arum - And at the same time show Canelo that he's the B-Side, freeing up the MGM.

Pacquiao has been exposed long ago. He's done.

Mayweather-Khan is the clash the whole world wants to see.

Why do you guys act like a Mexican Holiday is the only time Pac-Floyd can happen?

The date of that fight is irrelevant whereas a Canelo-Cotto fight makes more money on Cinco de Mayo weekend than it would any other weekend besides Mexican Independence day. If Cotto-Canelo happens on May 2nd, the general reply on both sides of Pac-Floyd should be 'So what?'

If Mayweather usually sells 900k PPV in the USA vs only 300K for Pacquiao, then they could separate that first bracket of the earnings 75-25 in favor of Floyd. But everything above should be 50-50%. Actually all the international earnings should go 80-20 in favor of Pacquiao. Very few people know who Mayweather is outside the US, Canada and UK. Remember guys, the US only accounts for 4% of the world population.
