Mick Hennessy has lined up a stiff test for Hughie Fury’s next fight after confirming that the undefeated heavyweight will take on Andriy Rudenko.

Hennessy Sports tweeted the news earlier today, as well as revealing that the fight will take place on the undercard of Gennady Golovkin’s WBA, interim WBC and IBO middleweight title defence against St. Helens’s Martin Murray, which takes place in Monaco on Febraury 21st. Both bouts will be shown live on Channel 5 here in the U.K. [Click Here To Read More]

Rudenko ain't no slouch, tough fight for young Fury.

I had Rudenko drawing the Browne fight if I recall correctly.the scores were way too wide that night.

        I agree - I scored it a draw.

This would be a step up and a real test for Hughie under any circumstances. Even more so as his comeback fight after a lay-off due to that blood disorder he was suffering from. He must be shaping well in the gym, or they would have lined up someone easier.

It is a real step up for the young Fury. Rudenko is hardly a top tier figther but he's way above anyone that Hughie has faced before.

This is actually quite intriguing - as has been pointed out Rudenko gave Browne a hard fight and the decision may have leaned slightly towards the Australian in the UK.

It is being televised free in the UK and will be getting good viewership I'd imagine, but it's a surprising (and welcome) risk to be taking with young Hughie.

Impressive fight for Hughie to take, he was sick just a little while ago. I had Rudenko edging Browne the wide scorecards did not do justice and show the competitiveness like as in the Abraham vs Smith fight.
