That lazy right hand uppercut thrown from out of range that led him to get caught against Garcia is a prime example of that. He was in with a man who's left hook is a 'get out of jail free' card and he was throwing the perfect punch for Garcia to counter.
It'll be difficult to totally eradicate that tendency but I'm hoping that the work that he's done stripping down and then relearning his technique and habits will start to pay off.
The one thing that will probably always frustrate is his lack of inside fighting. He's not likely to learn that at this stage in his career and certainly not with Hunter who seems to encourage his fighters to hold and smother their opponents attack. As a Khan fan it's the best that I can hope for and it needs to be done. As a boxing fan, it's far from pleasant to watch.
You get the impression with Amir that to a certain extent, up until getting with Hunter he's been encouraged to train to his strengths. That's always going to create problems down the road. In any sport it's always best to train your weaknesses and play or fight to your strengths.

He has the potential to be a very good fighter – not an all time great, that ship has already sailed - but significant. He'll only achieve that though if he understands his only limitations and works within them. Every fighter has limitations. For all of his strengths Khan is simply not built as a toe to toe fighter. He’s too fragile. The mistakes that led to getting floored by Diaz would be MUCH more costly against either Manny or Floyd.
IMO Khan needs to turn the clock back to his fight against Kotelnik. He was clinical in that fight and used accuracy and speed not just to win points but to avoid any unnecessary damage.
I doubt Alexander be difficult, but against a puncher he’s extremely vulnerable.

khan was a very good amateur, he had a head guard providing decent enough chin support and should have stayed with that. he does have fast hands though it would be a waste to not use them...i know...he could go into **** doin hand jobs. apply to www.****bros.com/careersforbumsdotdotdot****. lol
