A few weeks back canelo or Oscar admitted that the negotiations were difficult because of Cotto's demands. I'm sure Oscar, Canelo, and Bob are well aware of Cotto's terms. If there is no problem with the negotiations I'm sure Cotto will agree to fight. Mayweather is irrelevant at this point, he has no claim on that date and I doubt Cotto cares whether Mayweather fights on Mexican holidays.
Cotto will lose this fight and he knows it. He's going to maximize his financial intake as much as he can.

You amaze me because there is nothing to argue. Cotto is talking Canelo we know this for fact. We also know as reported by boxingscene that Floyd's people have contacted Cotto's people about a fight. So it's a theory that Cotto is going to be looking to who is going to pay him the most money? It's a theory that Floyd is a better win for Cotto's legacy? It's a theory that Floyd is a better draw than Canelo?

The answer is no. People don't like to hear the truth if they don't agree with it and in some cases just ignore it. That is exactly what you're doing now. It's reality people learn to deal with it all us Cotto "stans" had to do it when Cotto got beat down by Marg and Pac. Just as some of you need to understand that Canelo has little to no leverage over whether Cotto fights him or not. It's just the situation, Manny was your saving grace and Floyd just wants nothing to do with him. Floyd would rather fight a MW than face a small WW. Take your hate out on him, not at me.

bookmarked, will bump thread after Cotto/Canelo is finalized for Cinco de Mayo weekend.
I'm not saying the fight won't happen, nor am I rooting for it to fall apart. I'd love to see this fight. I'm just calling bulls(p)it on Oscar's claims. The fight is not as close as he is suggesting is the case, and Oscar is looking for leverage that, quite frankly, his side doesn't have.

I am just curious, which fight would you rather see? Cotto vs Canelo or Cotto Floyd 2? I personally feel that Cotto vs Canelo is a must happen fight. I think a win against Canelo would be huge, especially for Pr since we have lost many of our recent fights to the Mexicans(not hating). I feel that Cotto going into the Lions den, cinco de Mayo weekends and beating Canelo.on pretty much home turf would be just as epic as a win against Floyd. It is the fight that Cotto should choose IMO. And besides, Floyd will be crucified worst than ever if he fights Cotto next, and he knows this.

You can't title a story saying "Agree to all of Cotto's demands" then in the same story say "We need to talk about the venue."

From everything we've read all I see is Oscar going to Arum and asking him to get something to work out. Too bad for Arum and something that should get fl*mo's to be fans of Cotto is... he's actually his own boss. He has no contract with anyone and he is simply having people he is comfortable with represetning him. It really shouldn't come as a surprise that it's Todd and Arum not involved. Arum basically severed any relationship he had with Cotto after the wrap scandal and I think he sealed the deal with the CW in the Manny fight. Arum really has nothing to do with Cotto anymore, it's all Todd.
so basically Oscar and canelo are trying to pressure cotto?

Cotto beats overhyped fighter who had the look but not the skills.
There are some interesting points to consider in both fights. While it's true that Cotto's legacy would benefit more from beating Floyd than Canelo, whom would the terms of the fight favor? You know Floyd would want the lion's share, but wouldn't they be fighting for Cotto's MW belt? Fighting for Floyd's LMW belt again doesn't bring as much excitement, considering Floyd won the first fight. Cotto's stock raised when he beat Martinez, so how much would he be willing to bend to meet Floyd's demands? Would he be willing to defend his belt while coming down to a catch weight, because Mayweather would struggle to make full MW? Doubtful.

While a fight with Canelo might not do much for Cotto's legacy, it does support the age-old Puerto Rican vs Mexican rivalry. Canelo, despite being over-hyped and rushed to PPV status, is still wildly popular among Hispanics. Make this fight happen on Cinco De Mayo weekend, and they'll have a marketing powerhouse that could easily eclipse a fight with Floyd. If anything, Mayweather's stock took a big hit after the running, grabbing and holding he displayed in the second fight with Maidana. Frankly, I believe Cotto vs Canelo will be more exciting than Mayweather vs anyone but Pacquiao.

Wow. A real, unbiased, news article on a boxing website! Shocking! I can't remember the last time I saw anything like this.

I want to see Floyd/Cotto because the win would be an upset if Cotto won. I think he has a better chance now than he did when they first fought. I think Cotto would school Canelo, maybe lose 3 I just don't think Canelo is that good. Fanboy or not I always felt that based off styles the guy to beat Floyd would be Cotto, not Manny. Cotto has the size to bully Floyd on the ropes and has a powerful jab. I also like to see Floyd tested and fighting Khan, Garcia or anyone else just isn't going to get the job done.

Don't get me wrong, if I can't get Floyd/Cotto I'll take Cotto/Canelo over anything else out there for Cotto. He'll beat Canelo, can beat Floyd but will get killed by GGG. No other fight with Cott interests me, as Manny isn't an option.

I guess, you'll have to ask Oscar. Because if Floyd is seriously considering Cotto I don't think there is anything that can change that fight from happening unless Floyd finally fights Manny.
