i heard this too that most are just compensated for just their travel accommodations. i cant imagine anyone being able to support a wife or family doing this full time.

I heard even the ringside translators only get a few hundred bucks per fight but are compensated by free flights, hotels and meals. one of the translators told me this.

i heard the photographers make decent pay though cause they are being paid for all the sites using their photos. especially if theres a big KO win or whatever.

Max use to be great, but they pissed a pot of people pff, quickly lost there sources, there articles really went down in quality too. Also, there's a lot of boxing websites these days, most are terrible, but most people can't tell the difference.

The best writer out there is the head writer for cruel sports, who steve Kim partnered up with to make undisputed network.

It's funny because cruel sports use to slam the max boxing writers, and the max dcrew couldn't say anything because they knew they were out of there league.

I remember I was a member when they had the $5 monthly membership and they shipped you a free tshirt. Unfortunately it as an XXL shirt.

          RIP Maxboxing.
Hah! Still have my shirt and it was even the right size. I joined when they posted training footage of Darius Michalzewski (back before Youtube had any real content). Dougie's mail bags were must read back in the day. They definitely had a niche back then. I appreciate Steve more now than then, kind of like the guy who never grew up and moved out of his parents basement but still cool to hang with.

The name is Cruelestsport and the writer is Carlos Acevedo.

Undisputed network is sTeve kims blog I believe, Which the head writer for the Cruelest Sport, Carlos Acevedo writes for. Read anything by Acevedo, unlike The other boxing writers hes actually knowledgeable and talented.

He also takes. A lot of underhand sHots at wRiters and others in the business, that usually pretty damn funny.

Here's an example of his writing.
Plenty has been written about the disastrous card Showtime aired last week at the Barclays Center headlined by Danny “I really am Puerto Rican” Garcia and the completely unqualified Rod Salka, who stood a better chance of survival being blindsided by War Machine in a parking lot. *But here are a few takeaways you may not find anywhere else:

              *

Trotting out the old Buster Douglas cliché every time a 30-1 underdog pops up proves that some boxing people are clueless no matter who retweets their gibberish…

              *

Believe it or not, Buster Douglas was an accomplished fighter long before his miracle act against Tyson.** He had already challenged for a version of the heavyweight title (losing via TKO to Tony Tucker in 1987) and had a ledger that included wins over Tex Cobb, Oliver McCall, Greg Page and Trevor Berbick. *That list, as uninspiring as it looks, includes two former titleholders and a future champion. *Neither Rod Salka nor Edgar Santana had ever been anywhere near boxing mainstream in their careers (only Josesito Lopez – whom Santana edged in 2008 – can be counted as a fighter with any kind of standing in the boxing industry).

              *

The no-hopers you see on Showtime or HBO these days are much different from Buster Douglas, whose (nearly) off-the-board standing in 1990 had more to do with how “Iron” Mike Tyson was perceived than with how much talent Douglas may or may not have had. *True, Douglas, whose limitations were often due to temperament, was not a streaking contender in the late-1980s but if you have trouble discerning between a former title challenger who had beaten his fair share of name opponents and Rod Salka, then maybe you ought to suspend your Twitter account.

I'm glad Kim is with BS now. I still respect Fischer even though I don't really read his work, despite him selling out to Golden Boy (in principle) he is still objective. Kim was doing some youtube stuff recently for a sports channel, that is decent.

I still have a brand new maxboxing shirt, they sent a 3XL lol

I dont blame Dougie, he has a wife and kids to feed, Ring and Goldenboy pays better much better, he gets way more money now than he did being a beat reporter going to barrio gyms on Maxboxing.

But I miss those old days man, Steve and Dougie were the best loved their chemistry and breakdowns.

Gabe is annoying and a snobby blowhard who thinks he is some super actor and drug expert.

I agree 100%. Montoya blocked me on Twitter even though I never commented about him. What a punk. And Fischer is a much better writer than him too.
