Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Khan-Brook Can Draw 100,000 Fans in UK

If Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs) is successful on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, when he faces former two-division champion Devon Alexander, he is going to be a frontrunner to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs).

If Khan is unable to get Mayweather in the ring, then Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya will attempt to get him a lucrative "Plan B" option. That secondary option is possible a huge domestic fight with IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, who makes the first defense of his title in February. [Click Here To Read More]

Based on what? Froch - Groves? Not so sure this would capture the same level of attention. Particularly as Khan is not viewed with as much favour by the media here and Kell still hasn't seemed to get much coverage outside of Sheffield & boxing only media in spite of his excellent win over Porter.

    Do you guys agree?

I'm not so sure. Casual fans still don't know who Brook is.

Absolutely. it would maybe do the 02 but true Brook is not mainstream and Khan is not liked by many other than the ********** and talking of Wembley I was there for G v F and when Khan came up on the big screen I have NEVER heard such booing, as I said he's NOT liked.
That said I don't think it's a fight that the Khan's fancy , he don't want his chocolate brownie !

Khan-Brook would draw a huge crowd but i'm not too sure it would be 100,000.

60,000-70,000 would be more realistic imo

British fans always turn out for huge sporting events so it wouldn't surprise me.

Khan is the most famous fighter in the UK, he'd bring in plenty casual fans. They'll also ramp up the rivalry with Brook in the promotion.

That's a great thing about our country is the passion the fans have.

Boxing isn't even a big sport here yet Josh Warrington can sell out an arena.
