Comments Thread For: Khan: This Fight is a Dress Rehearsal For Mayweather

British star Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) is looking for something more than a victory on Saturday night, when he faces former two division world champion Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight will headline a Showtime televised tripleheader.

Should Khan be successful, he will potentially move forward to a 2015 showdown with WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs).

Khan realizes that a close call win is not enough, he needs to put on a show and win in style.

When will Khan learn to focus ONLY on the guy in front of him...and not some possible fight in the future? If he loses this one, you can stick a fork in him.

No Khan, the 180 mill purse offer to Manny and Floyd counter your assertion, nuff said.

I am dissapointed at Khan for how he is treating Devon as a push over. Devon Alexander is as good as any WW out there, definitely a top ten guy and Khan is acting like he is a gimme.

Devon is more than capable of boxing Khans ears off and Khan should take him deadly serious.

I like both fighters in this fight as Khan is more explosive, definitely stronger of the two and throws the nastiest combos of any WW.

Devon is more of tight fighter, with top tier counter punching ability, equal speed and great poise.

        As far as weaknesses:

Khans lack of awareness when he is on offense allows fighters to counter him in the middle of his combinations. He also often throws too many punches at once, leaving himself open for the counter (This infuriates me).

Devon has trouble adjusting to wild fighters. Porter and Bradley both were able to visibly frustrate Devon by bull rushing and clinching. I don't they he has had enough experience fighting wild fighters. Constant aggression seems to give him problems and he seems to not be able to think about his next move as quickly when a fighter is all over him.

This will be a fantastic fight I have it 50/50 can't pick a winner.
