Comments Thread For: Lemieux To Media: Why Are You Obsessed With Golovkin?

Middleweight ****er David Lemieux (33-2, 31KOs) of Canada was swarmed with questions following the ten round beating he gave to Gabe Rosadao last Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The main question he was asked, over and over again, was whether or not he would face WBA/IBO/WBC-interim middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs).

The thing is that Quillin more then likely won't fight you. So it's Jacobs or GGG. Don't even need to mention Cotto

Why? Because everyone knows the plan is to feed to you to GGG next year.

Lemieux has a point. There are better fights out there for the fans than Lemieux v Golovkin. It's GGG mania right now with the US boxing media.

Let the guy fight some contenders, he wasn't even ranked in the top 10 prior to this fight and neither was his opponent.

Because given both styles, it would be absolute fireworks between 2 seek and destroy fighters. I can understand why Lemieux is looking at Quillen though. He doesn't see him as much of a threat. We all know that Haymon wont put Quillen in with him though so that fight is out the window..

I don't know why the media can't ease off the kid, give him 12-18 months of developing. Reality is he probably don't ever win but hes improving in each fight and it can potentially be a bigger, more compelling fight down the road.

Get him in with Geale, maybe avenge his defeat to Rubio, Tureano Johnson those sort of guys.

Tureano vs LeMule would be fireworks too and much more competitive at this stage. That would be a great fight.

Lemieux shouldn't fight Golovkin. That's not a very interesting fight.

Because GGG brings it and always ends fights decisively!

He is so good and at the same time can be hit. He allows a guy to touch him if he doesn't feel like they can hurt him, in attempt to land his own power. GGG has such self belief that he knows if he and hiss opponent land, he will do more damage!

It's hard not to admire and respect that attitude. Not only that they guy is one hell of a role model.
