Comments Thread For: Vargas: Algieri Was Scared Out of His Mind vs. Pacquiao!

If a mega fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao fails to materialize, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has hinted that undefeated WBA junior welterweight champion Jessie Vargas (26-0) is a strong candidate to face Pacquiao next spring.

Pacquiao just won a dominant unanimous decision over Chris Algieri in Macau, China. Pacquiao scored six knockdowns in the fight and Vargas was critical of Algieri's performance, saying that the New Yorker fought "scared".

Why is boxingscene so fn obsessed with Jesse Vargas all of a sudden? .. Jeezus you guys are promoting this guy more then Bob Arum. There's way more relevant topics going on in the world of boxing then the "possibility" that Vargas may face Pacquiao.

      Algieri > Vargas...and that's saying something!

Disgraceful to even ponder this guy as Manny's next opponent. Have you no shame?

Well there is the possibility (conspiracy theory Alert) that Top Rank is paying them to put this stuff out. A little extra revenue in Boxingscene's coffers.

To plant an idea into the viewers heads and condition them into embracing Vargas as a plausible opponent. Isn't that how it happened with Guerrero for Mayweather. All sorts of articles were coming out while he was sitting on the shelf. Then they released an article where all the "top trainers and experts" gave their opinion on who would win between Floyd and Guerrero BEFORE THE FIGHT GOT SIGNED.

Planting an idea into posters and general viewers heads. I have no proof of this Boxingscene, so don't ban me. Just a Conspiracy theory nut pontificating.

No doubt in my mind Algieri would whoop Vargas.

The sad thing is, you may be right bro Lol

I mean if Pacquiao does end up facing Vargas I'll be the first guy to come here and rip the hell out of Top Rank, but right now they aren't negotiating to face Vargas, they're negotiating to face Floyd Mayweather Jr.
It boggles my mind how boxingscene has been going on more about Vargas lately then about the fight the boxing world has been waiting for. Especially when most other boxing site's have been all over that story.
