HW division in 5 years: is the future bright?

Exactly.Originally posted by Leo Praduni think it only can get better, don king is loosing grasp on the division so its gonna get better...
But you won't see an undisputed champ until Don is out of the picture. Which could take a long time and several lawsuits. He's not letting anyone have a shot at his guys without options or unless it gets to the point of them being stripped (then he works on the judges). The WBO won't play that, so Wlad will get a shot at Brewster after Byrd. So the possibility will be there to unify 3 belts this year. But Don and the WBA are tight (not as tight and corrupt as Don and the IBF were, but he's in there).
Nobody is taking Valuev's WBA belt unless King has them signed up and locked down. Take that to the bank.Comment

There has to be some kind of legitimate tournament, where every top guy gets a chance to stake his claim. none of this Valuev vs Beck nonsense or whatever, only guys who are either at the top, or have good winning streaks, but it's unlikely to happen of course.Comment

don't forget about briggs either. the man has improved greatly since the Mcline fight. He looks veru patient and powerful and his mind is all on boxing and has all the skill. He is also the kind of guy who can sell the devison if he were a champ he is very charismatic and gratious with the fans. Brewster is also a fighter that can be well marketed as he also has a measure of charisma. That would be a great fight Briggs/brew or Briggs/Klit the only thing is that he is 35 but he is a young 35 so who knowsComment

I personally think it is. Well, part of my optimism stems from many good HWs coming up from my country of birth -- USSR. I think many of them (Povetkin, Chagaev, Ibragimov, Boytsov, Dmitrienko) will contribute a great deal to shaping up the new, strong HW division. Of course, this is a personal, very subjective view.
The division is beaming with a lot of young talents and prospects but not unless Don King moves out of the picture, his ****i'n influence and politics neutralized there's not much chance for the division to prosper. King's politics is completely ruining the division. Champs can't fight other title holders and deserving and legitimate challengers can't get noticed. There's just too much red tapes and stumbling blocks for the fighters to really get busy fighting.Comment

True. However its hard to imagine noone has looked at the mold thats been cast and not decided to copy it. There's other "Kings" out there now and more coming like him. In the end it will be up to the fighters to find a way around them. Easier said than done I know.Originally posted by psychopathThe division is beaming with a lot of young talents and prospects but not unless Don King moves out of the picture, his ****i'n influence and politics neutralized there's not much chance for the division to prosper. .Comment
