Marquez is right and if you put bias aside, it's plain to see. Cotto has paid his dues and although Alvarez was part of "The One," his performance led to his stock dropping sharply among casuals. Cotto, on the other hand, is hot (again). I think an agreement will get made but Canelo will have to give in a tad at the negotiating table. I think the date will dictate where the fight takes place but Cotto will likely get the bigger share and his choice of weight.

"Canelo wants the fight weight to fall at 155 pounds, which shouldn't be a problem since Cotto weighed only 155 pounds when he captured the title from Sergio Martinez"
"I want to stay at junior middleweight, if the fight with Cotto is done it will be for the middleweight championship, but it would be agreed upon for 155 pounds"
Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs) discussed some of the details being negotiated for a potential showdown with WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs), on May 2nd in either Las Vegas or Arlington, Texas. Some of the details being negotiated include the weight, the official beer sponsor, the venue and more.Last edited by UTEP; 12-06-2014, 03:05 PM.Comment
