Since he never went back to 154 until the end there were reasons for that. That is why this specific question in relation to Margarito is a joke. In a fight against Golovkin that would be at above 154 this kind of stuff matters. Some people obviously have no clue about what Margarito did thinking he knocked out Rosado faster than Golovkin, so something needed to get said for those that could be influenced by such talk that is in no way connected with what reality was.
If I wanted to be real mean to Margarito in this thread I could because Glolovkin would take advantage of so many things, but I also don't need to do it because it is an obvious question (even a die hard Margarito fan like yourself knows the answer, hence why we are talking about how I view Margarito at 154 not that). I don't really like using those last Margarito fights at 154 that is clearly a non vintage version, but it is not like he changed any views of mine either in regard to his capabilities higher up.
You can watch any fight and analyze the mistakes any boxer makes. Like I said, seeing Margarito develop, it was easier to see his mistakes and improvements. Something that you clearly lack. Oh and I have seen a lot of Santos' fights too, to make that judgment.
I'm not talking about Margarito vs Golovkin. It's a totally unfair poll.

Obviously not a serious thread.
Golovkin is a Carter Middleweight.
Margarito is a career Welterweight.

End of discussion. Dead Issue to me, you can rant on if you like though.
Sorry that you don't like your card being pulled like that, but don't make ****** mistakes while acting like you know something and that won't happen.

Santos became a champion again when he went to Canada and knocked that one black dude out. Tell me, would someone mediocre do something like that, like being a two time world champion? Was Santos elite? No, but he was decent.

Santos was a champ for many years but how many fights, he was so inactive, he would win a title and not fight for 18 to 24 months. Which did cost him in the end against Foreman but he wasn't even that good before that. Now compared to an average fighter Santos is someone, and I am not saying he is a bad fighter he is good anyone who makes it to that level is obviously good at the sport. Still he was not awe inspiring either. So that fight is not a total black mark against Margarito but Santos is a run of the mill champ at a weak division, so losing a close fight isn't that bad especially since Margarito was coming on but I don't think that fight said he was going to do big things above 154 at any time. Sure he could beat some fringe guys maybe even a low end champ but no one that I would consider a "real" champion (like Golovkin is a real champion, Quillin is not for example)
I don't think you haven't watched their fights I never said that, I just find it odd that you are that high on Santos. I still stand by what I said though Margarito wasn't anything at 154 and didn't prove much of anything in that class. Sitting here debating Daniel Santos is fun because we both know who he actually is but I still have to say in the grand scheme of thing Santos is meh but you don't have to agree.

We are reaching and grasping at straws here with this GGG vs Margarito comparison. Look at Margarito's record he has never, let me say that again NEVER beaten a in prime top level fighter at 154, so why are we even bothering about GGG or 160? If a old Sugar Shane Mosley with no stamina could barely get hit and then land the kitchen sink on Margarito at 147 then what is GGG going to do at 160? And look at his face vs Manny he looked like he was Chinese and no one would have complained if that was stopped, even Manny was begging for the ref to stop it.Last edited by chocolate; 12-06-2014, 04:20 PM.
