What if Floyd Mayweather actually lost a fight? Does your perception change?

It's obvious Floyd values being undefeated but let's say he lost a fight. He lost clearly. Does it change your perception of Mayweather? Do you think it will ruin Floyd's psyche if he lost and he wanted to fight again? Do you think it will be interesting to see how he bounced back from a loss? Thoughts?

If he lost i would say oh well..he is about to be 38 and has been on top for years......Maybe it will bring his ass back to reality and he will grow up and stop throwing his money away to sack chasers and stop acting like he is king of the world...

20-30% of his rabid "he's the best ever!" fan base would fall off the face of the Earth. These are normally the guys that only watch a Floyd fight, and get their boxing info from an ESPN.com headline.

      Basically, 90% of my buddies.

in my book he already lost twice, so no big deal here. it comes with the territory of being a fighter.

There's nobody at 154 and under who could remotely beat Floyd right now. But if someone did, he would be awesome, and it would be AWESOME for boxing.

If Floyd lost, yes it would tarnish his career, by removing his aura of invincibility.

On the other hand, imagine if Floyd had actually fought Pacquaio in 2009 or so. Maybe PacMan would have won (I doubt it.) This could have led to some killer rematches which might have catapulted Floyd even higher in people's minds, coming back from a loss against the other great fighter of his era, like Ali/Frazier.

They should have had a trilogy by now, huge fights that would live forever in boxing. Going undefeated isn't everything.

Furthermore, I believe that Floyd's future reputation will always be tarnished anyway. Because nobody will mention his name without Pacquaio's. And people will say, "yeah but he didn't fight Pacquaio."

Wouldn't matter that much to hardcore fans in the larger scheme of things. For his fanboys it would be an earth shattering moment alright.

He'll be 38 when he next fights. The only way it would change your perception is if you believed he is superhuman.

Not really, but I expect something similar to Broner/Maidana.

If he loses so what? There are a ton of fighters greater than him who have losses. If he truly believes what the tells his guys which is "fighters can take a loss and bounce back" then he'll be ok
