No doubt however Arums losses are not felt by the average fan. If anything, might spur him to make better matches. A network losing over half their annual budget is a fans problem tho, could see barely any boxing on the channelComment

that would all depend on how much Pacquiao was paid, how much the casino paid them, sponsors, etc. Macau pays huge amount of cash, much more than Vegas, and I'm sure the entire point of having the fight there was because they expected low PPV buys.
300k is in the ballpark of what was expected for this fight, I predicted 250k myself. . I don't think many people thought a Chris Algieri fight would do better numbers than Pacquiao vs Rios.Comment

These Macau casinos are rolling in $$$...man, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually paid Stallone and Schwarzenegger to fly over and watch the fight.
Last year they had Paris Hilton and Beckham..
or maybe they are just Pacquiao fans... and like to watch fights.Comment

Believe it or not Paris Hilton & Manny/Jinky are friends
There's a youtube vid floating around somewhere where Paris said that she actually stayed with the Pacquiao's at their home and went shopping with Jinky or some ****.Comment

The Venetian paid $8 million as the site fee for the Rios fight. Can't imagine they paid more for Algieri.that would all depend on how much Pacquiao was paid, how much the casino paid them, sponsors, etc. Macau pays huge amount of cash, much more than Vegas, and I'm sure the entire point of having the fight there was because they expected low PPV buys.

300K buys brings in about $20 mil in revenue. Half goes to the TV/Satellite networks, HBO gets their cut. What's left over is probably $8 mil or so for Arum to keep. With the gate and other revenues it's possible that in the end Top Rank ends up barely breaking even but I think they lost money on this sham.
For what it's worth, the head of HBO PPV Mark Taffet said 350K for Rios was the point at which the fight made any money for them:
"We knew there were challenges and tempered our expectations from the beginning," Taffet said. "It was an extraordinary effort by everyone involved, and we recognized that anything above 350,000 buys would be a success.

Can't imagine it being different for Algieri.
Wasn't this supposed to be the first Chinese PPV bout for Top Rank? What happened to that?Comment

I believe it. ..I saw a photo of her greeting PAC somewhere before...Also, I think Hilton promoted some condo developments in Manila or something. So she did spend time there.Comment

I think they pulled a profit. They wouldn't have come back if they didn't think they'd make money. Keep in mind, that 300,000 figure being floated is just a rumour. There is side money involved coming from somewhere. The Venetian paid $8 million as the site fee for the Rios fight. Can't imagine they paid more for Algieri.
