Comments Thread For: Ivan Redkach Inks Agreement With Al Haymon

BoxingScene.com has been advised that hard punching lightweight contender Ivan Redkach (17-0, 13KOs) is the latest fighter to join the voluminous stable of powerful manager/adviser Al Haymon. Redkach is promoted by Lou DiBella.

Redkach was in action twice in 2014, winning wide ten round decisions over Tony Luis and Sergey Gulyakevich. The Ukrainian boxer is the second Eastern European fighter to join Haymon's stable in recent months. In late October, highly regarded amateur Sergey Derevyanchenko (2-0 as a pro) joined Haymon's stable

Haymon has a strong TV relationship with Stephen Espinoza/Showtime, is looking to secure more TV dates through NBCUniversal, and has working relationships with DiBella, Goosen, Warriors Boxing, Gary Shaw, GYM, Sampson Boxing, and an emerging relationship with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Sport.

HBO/Top Rank/Golden Boy have no idea what's gonna hit them. lol

How good is that relationship with showtime when he's going to take the best fights, if he bothers to make any, to NBC since it's timeslots he's paying for

You'd think that some of these fighters would look at the situation current Haymon fighters are at, only fight once a year, twice at the most and that's only for the bigger names. Most of these guys will be shelved

I liked how Peter Quillin was not even mentioned among fighters in Haymon stable. For many fans he got lost in the obscure category "and many many others" after all the ducking he made.

Clearly Haymon has something major planned for next year - how it pans out is yet to be seen.

I for one, though, find it hard to be all that enthused by what could result in another major rift in the US sport, just when bridges are being rebuilt over the last cold war.

It would be much easier to support Haymons initiatives without the string of mismatches and unmade fights which seem to have become the norm for Haymon fighters throughout 2014.

Redkach vs Salka in 2015. Bank on it.

I cant wait for the deal to be official. I think we will get to see a lot of good new prospects on NBC sports, and the bigger match ups will be on Showtime, and regular NBC (This is where I think Haymon fighters will fight against each other). They could do single elemination tournaments (let the fans give some input).

Well, atleast Haymon should have a potentially competitive league. I understand why alot of fighters want to sign with him because they feel it represents stability with guaranteed pay and exposure. Unfortunately it will cause a major rift in the sport over the next couple years.
