CBS didn't lose a dime because, in spite of what bloggers and haters like Fat Dan Rafael and Kevin Iole say, Showtime is not paying Mayweather anywhere from $32 to $42 million per fight. No way in hell that is happening. If you are ****** enough to believe that, you also must believe that a fat, jolly white guy is going to come down your chimney on Christmas Eve.Comment

There are more than enough that appreciate a ood fight, not a fighter vs a runner....and Canelo vs damn near anyone on those dates cancarry those ppvs
They, the sponsors and promoters target audience IS the Latino/Mexican/Chicano segment due to the fact that most of the commericals(ppv, beer, etc) are targeted in a latin style way when those holidays come up. Latinos/Mexicanos/Chicanos are THEE biggest boxing fans in the world...bar none and fighting on CINCO DE MAYO AND DIEZ Y SEIS make the driving force of ppv buys(latino/mexicano/chicano) even more importantwhy are people continuing to assume Mexicans drive PPV sales in the US? Middle and upper middle class whites drive ppv sales. SO the question becomes who would they support on that date-Floyd or Canelo. I think its clear it Floyd.
As for the MGM and Vegas-no offense to Canelo-but Floyd fighting on those dates are the 2 biggest weekends for the whole Vegas community. If Canelo can show he can match or exceed Floyd-he will get the dates. It was significant that the high rollers/gamblers didn't gravitate toward the Maidana 2 fight.
Otherwise it will be Floyd until he can no longer generate the money he does.
I don't know if you've ever been to vegas on either of those 2 dates BUT it aint nothing but a MEXICAN party going on in the casinos, strip, clubs and the fight itself.Comment

I am not buying a Pacquiao or Mayweather fight unless it is against each other.
If there is another fight on the date of a Pacquiao or Mayweather fight I will buy it REGARDLESS to try to send a message.
If it's Canelo v Cotto or Mayweather v Khan, I'm going with the Canelo fight. They could put Canelo in there against Rod Salka and I'll buy that before I buy another Floyd fight.Comment

Is Mike Tyson or Jack Nicholson, or any other movie/music star, honestly going to not go to a Mayweather fight in Vegas? think about it.High profile celebrities go to the big fights, do you really think somebody like Mike Tyson or Jack Nicholson is gonna pick a sshiiiiy fight with Khan over a guaranteed all out war that is the 2nd biggest fight boxing could make?
Again Floyd doesn't take risks and showtime sure as hell won't be down to take that risk so I GURANTEE Floyd either has to fight manny, not fight at all until September or change his date. You guys act like people just go "OH MY GOD FFLOYDMAYWEATHER! TAKE MY MONEY!" Floyd needs an opponent to do good numbers. With a joke of an opponent plus Cotto-Canelo, Floyd will not do as good numbers and if Showtime can't get max profit off a Floyd fight I'm am 100% sure they'd rather him sit out then go against Cotto-Alvarez.
Even if you book Cotto-Alvarez in Texas Stadium, would a star rather be one of tens of thousands in Arlington, TX or in Vegas for fight week and the spectacle of a Mayweather fight (If the Brits travel in droves anything like they did for Ricky Hatton, the energy in the MGM Grand would be electric).
Movie, tv, and music stars follow the spectacle, and there's no spectacle like a Mayweather fight.Comment
