  • I like Canelo's attitude to boxing in general but i don't think he realises that he is a pay per view fighter, not a pay per view star.

If he beat Floyd he would have been the new star but he lost and is a pay per view fighter doing 200-300k just like Floyd and Pac before they beat Oscar. It's not a good idea to compete with the current PPV king ESPECIALLY if he fights Pacquiao who is probably number 2 in PPV.

Beating someone like Cotto would definitely help him become a pay per view star in the long term though.

yep i agree....it's not like he did anything meaningful in July's PPV, matter of fact he got schooled in a lot of those rounds....... mayweather gave him a shot, he got his PPV opportunity from mayweather and got whooped, now all of a sudden besides the fact that he lost to mayweather and got his opportunity from Mayweather he wants to turn around and try to take those dates from mayweather.........he could make good numbers, many of my compatriots just need a little beer in their system and some great highlights of Canelo's fight with Angulo, mix in some Josesito Lopez highlights, put some shots of him for the ladies and you might have some pretty good PPV ratings

        • If floyd signs to fight Pacquiao in May, that is a huge Fuck you and victory over Canelo.

If floyd fights anybody else, then Canelo is going to take a cut out of his wallet, and he's going to secure a large chunk of the Mexican audience.

No real Mexican is going to buy a Floyd fight on a mexican holiday when Canelo is fighting unless it's Floyd vs Pacquiao.

As for the MGM and Vegas-no offense to Canelo-but Floyd fighting on those dates are the 2 biggest weekends for the whole Vegas community. If Canelo can show he can match or exceed Floyd-he will get the dates. It was significant that the high rollers/gamblers didn't gravitate toward the Maidana 2 fight.

Otherwise it will be Floyd until he can no longer generate the money he does.
it will be determined by what fight is better. cotto vs canelo is a better fight than any fight floyd picks with the exception of pacquiao.

so if floyd aint fighting pacman on may 2, then he will either take a hit on his wonga or he will move dates.

No. In other words the shotcallers at Showtime would have to be complete morons to go up against Cotto/Canelo with Floyd vs anyone not named Pacquiao.

Respectfully, we don't know what casual fans will choose. All we know is that in any form of entertainment consumers don't always choose the better- they choose what they like. That's why Justin Bieber and Sylvester Stallone are so rich and far more talented artists are not.

you have offered your opinion but nothing to support it. For instance, why would the MGM choose canelo/cotto when with a Floyd v ------- fight-even with a guy like maidana-they can charge more per seat and make more at the gate?
