This guy is so overrated especially now that he fights to get in and out of his wheelchair. To Paul he can beat anyone which is how you're suppose to think as a fighter so of course he'd say he could beat anyone including Hercules, Jason Vorheese, Floyd Mayweather, Canelo, etc... lol. Carlos Quintana beat him lol. Lara schooled him. And Sergio nearly killed him. His motorcycle KO'd his career... it was the real Punisher nawm sayin

I dont think you would have, you were coming off you career worse perfomance, being brutally KO by Maravilla, losing to bum ass lara, and going 12 with another bum in ishida.

But hey never know, it is boxing you have to fight the fights cause just says cause you beat this person or lost to this person blah blah blah.

Probably, definately would have given him a tough fight. Outworked him and either got robbed or won by decision, or KOd.

Im suprised, HBO should have reached out to Williams, at least give him a part time or trial commentating job. Sure his diction is not so good but he gave some great fights and can no longer fight. Ward is terrible at commentary and he has the ability to fight.

At that stage of Paul Williams career without the obvious bike injury happening...
Nah, just no... Paul Williams by the time he'd face Canelo would be damaged goods.
Canelo Alvarez would probably stop him.

If Williams was at his best, I'd probably pick him to beat Canelo in a pretty close affair. Williams would always have success against flatfooted guys by outworking them.
Williams at his best got outboxed by Quintana.

Huge Paul Williams fan from Augusta. He would have given it a good go but nah, Canelo woulda beat him in 12. The only thing Williams would have on Canelo is the stamina but thats it. I mean, he went 12 rounds with ishidia and Canelo KO'd ishidia in sparring. Love the guy but nah, he was finished after the Sergio KO. I would have loved to see him fight some lower tier guys to get his confidence up.

Think about it, this would have happened a year before Alvarez fought Austin Trout, another tall rangy southpaw with high activity, where he was lucky to escape with a decision where 2 terrible/corrupt judges may have been the only reason he won.

Maybe Paul Williams had declined so far he wasn't as good as Austin Trout, but I don't think so. And Alvarez was possibly worse than he was a year later.
