I like Walters, but it's basically on a Donaire win and Nonito has been the same for a while.

        I also voted Crawford.
Kovalev has lived in America since 2012. 23 of his 27 pro fights have taken place in the USA. Hardly enemy territory. Pacquiao owns homes in the U.S. He has fought in America 24 times. Enemy territory is Lacy going to the UK or Crawford going to Scotland, not Pacquiao/Kovalev fighting in America.

With that said, both of them do belong in the discussion. I just think its ridiculous that one 12-round decision win each makes them frontrunners in the FOTY discussion. Even more ridiculous with Kovalev when he beat a 49-year old man in that decision.

Coming out of obscurity and destroying Darchiniyan and Donaire is a better year than Agnew, Caparello, and a decision vs. Hopkins. It is also at the very least equal to decision wins vs. Bradley and Algieri.

They're not Americans, and barely even speak English in Kovalev's case, same was true of Pac for a long time. Russia is his home, the Phillipines is Pacquiao's.

You could come and live here in the UK as a pro, but you'd still be an American and get no favors fighting a Brit. It was a Hopkins crowd in AC, in Moscow it would have been Kovalev's with the Russians behind him.

Bradley was PFP #3, Algieri was a world champion.

Donaire was not on the PFP list, Darch was not a world champ.

You have a better case comparing Kovalev and Walters depending on where you think Hopkins was at, but he was a legit unified champ.

Doesn't sound like we'll agree on it, agree to disagree.

                  Crawford IMO.

If Canelo had fought again, I would say him. But I liked what Crawford did this year.

                    Manny pacquiao on the list......lol

Bradley was a nice win I guess, but he'd already beaten him in the eyes of everyone hands down.

                    And Algieri.....c'mon son

                      Crawford won ESPN FOTY.
