Comments Thread For: Beltran Believes He Must KO Crawford To Win

Ray Beltran is in the same precarious position he occupied 14½ months ago.

The humble Mexican contender is in the hometown of the champion, preparing to fight for the WBO lightweight title. That first frustrating experience, which resulted in a controversial split draw with Scotland’s Ricky Burns in September 2013 in Glasgow, taught Beltran that it isn’t wise to allow such a fight to go to the scorecards. Though an 8-1 underdog, Beltran (29-6-1, 17 KOs) doesn’t intend to allow that to happen again Saturday night, when he is scheduled to challenge champion Terence Crawford at CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

This should be a very fun fight to watch. I like both guys but I have to go with crawford. Just too good all around for beltran.

I do hope Beltran is looking for a war because I can see him and only him actually making this fight worthwhile watching but I still expect a wide shut out win for Terence regardless.

I doubt Crawford will go to war because if he does it's going to be a huge mistake. Beltran isn't a small pudgy 135lb like Gamboa who had no business fighting at that weight. Crawford tends to be too tough for his own good and Beltran has been sitting on his punches lately.

If Gamboa was able to hurt Crawford then Beltran can definitely stop Crawford. Hopefully it's a fun fight and not a encore of Crawford when he fought that Russian in Orlando.

Beltran thinks he will lose a "hometown" decision but he is failing to realize that Crawford will win a decision because he is the better boxer. Go ahead and pressure him and see how many rounds you make it before you are dropped by a counter shot that you didn't see. Crawford drops him before three rounds is up if he comes at him all aggressive.

he will lose a hometown decision if the rounds are close,if he wins a close round the judges wont give it to him,he really has to dominate a round to get it,it's not fair but that's how it will be,thats usually how it goes with the champion fighting in his hometown

Could be but I think that Crawford is going to show that he is a level above Beltran. The fight could happen in a neutral venue and Crawford would still win.

of course in a neutral venue beltran would get the close rounds,he wouldn't have to worry about really dominating the rounds to get them, but I still think Crawford is a better boxer,no doubt but a guy like beltran with excellent stamina and decent punch can hurt Crawford, gamboa did and he's a lot smaller, but then again beltran is slower too, crawford should shine in this fight though, beltran is slow and not really a strong puncher, avg I would say,i'm just saying that what beltran thinks is really true

Would you all agree with me on Terence Crawford being one of the most uninteresting American champions you've got right now?
I can't imagine the viewings for this fight doing well it will be mostly Mexicans watching.
