This guy is still the "lineal" only because KOvalev hasnt had a crack at that belt in particular and he'll remain that if he continues to fight guys not named Sergey Kovalev. I swear there needs to be stricter rules and regulations when it comes to that lineal strap..it shud be ordered that he face the #2 guy and if rejected it shud be stripped and the #2 ***3 shud face off for it..bcuz this dodging a legit threat is getting old

In fairness to Hopkins, he said he was moving down to challenge a champion so why Stevenson has to come out and state this is beyond me. Nice he praised Kovalev for a perfectly carried out strategy.

Did Hopkins say he was definitely moving down?

All I read from the article posted on this site a few weeks ago, was that he was fighting a champion from a lower weight division - at a comfortable weight. He may well be dragging someone up to Light Heavyweight.

...I do recognise and respect Hopkins old school mentality though. He may well be moving down and facing the champion at their weight.
