New Ring P4P rankings: Wladimir Klitschko moved up to #2

Sure, the lumbering oaf has wiped out all the other garbage opponents in his wasteland division for years (which I give props too for not allowing said fat bums to hold belts), but it's a travesty to rank Wlad the P4P #2 fighter in the world. In hypothetical matchups, where all fighters are the in the same mythical weightclass, is Wlad really the second best fighter in the world? Would he beat Pacquiao, Rigo, Bradley, Kovalev, Golovkin, Loma, Ward, Froch, and tens of other opponents? Probably not, which is why P4P lists are very flawed in theory. Sure, resume and accomplishments have to be seriously taken into account (which is funny as Wlad has no hall of fame wins), but the true meaning of P4P is to rank fighters in order of their perceived skills compared to the others. Wlad and his clinch-a-thons and jabfests in robotic fashion against C level out of shape opposition does not scream P4P. Moreover, the original P4P lists excluded heavyweight fighters, I think that line of thinking should still be incorporated.
If all of that what you're saying is true then why do so many people think a man who lays up against the ropes and allows a man to whale on them should be regarded as the all time P4P best (Muhammad Ali)...
I'm just looking at snippets of that wall of text because honestly I can tell its a load of crap.Comment

So yes Wladimir resume is miles better than Joe Louis.
We have never seen Wladimir soundly outboxed, even in his losses prior to being stopped he still looked good besides the only fight with Corrie Sanders.
We can't say the same for many of the other boxers even Larry Holmes who had a tough time with Spinks, Shavers and an even worse time with Mike Tyson then to also note he has probably had more meaningless fights than Wladimir Klitschko.Comment

Joe Louis should be compared with fighters up until the 70's because he wouldn't beat any of the top guys from 80s onwards.

Guys, the HW division isn't considered weak because Wlad is so dominant. Even if Wlad weren't there, it would still be considered weak, because other than Wlad, there aren't that many good fighters. You know something is wrong when clumsy, unskilled oaf Tyson Fury is a top 10 contender. A weak division without a dominant champion is still a weak division.
Povetkin went life and death with CW Huck, and Pulev struggled with Ustinov and ancient Thompson.Last edited by VG_Addict; 11-25-2014, 06:24 PM.Comment

Gonzalez's resume is very top heavy and he certainly beat some garbage fighters, but his best wins are AAA stuff.
Niida was a long reigning titlist at 105 with wins over some very decent names.
Yaegashi was a two division champ and the consensus best flyweight at the time.
And just because you didn't know who Estrada was when Gonzalez beat him doesn't mean he isn't a great win. He went on to upset Viloria and beat up Giovanni Segura.
Now list the fighters that have three wins of comparable quality. I'm afraid it will be a short list.Comment
