    Grade the top 10 welterweights

Saw dan_cov do one of these the other day for the heavyweight division so thought I'd do one for 147

    Grading gauge: A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-

    Pac
    Floyd
    Thurman
    Bradley
    Brook
    Porter
    Khan
    Alexander
    Marquez
    Maidana

I think most will agree those are currently the top 10 guys at 147, with the likes of Guerrero, Bundu, Sadam Ali just missing out.

How would you guys grade them (or anyone else you feel should be top 10)?

That would be overall though I think some lesser grades would beat higher grades head-to-head I.E Brook would beat Marquez - bad style match up, Bradley beat Marquez, Maidana probably beats Khan in a rematch at welter.

Pac = B+ (past prime but still dangerous)
Floyd = A- (still slick but legs are not as spry low punch output)
Thurman = B (nice upside. need to see more)
Bradley = B (very solid but with little upside)
Kell Brook = A- (the most impressive young fighter with the best upside)
Porter = D+ (thoroughly exposed by k brook as a wild swinging bufoon)
Khan = B+ (this new style is boring but effective)
Alexander = C+ (above average at best.)
Marquez = B- (old. ped acne. ungrateful cvnt who wont return the favor to pac)
Maidana = B- (limited but has name now)

          Yeah, makes sense.

Marquez would get beat by everyone else in the top 10 imo due to his size and age disadvantage. Skillwise definitely elite though.

          Imo:

          Pac: A+
          Floyd: A+
          Thurman: A-
          Bradley: A-
          Brook: B+
          Porter: B
          Khan: B+
          Alexander: B-
          Marquez: A
          Maidana: B-

That's based on skill. I know some guys haven't done enough to be ranked as high as I have based on achievements/resume alone.

Marquez needs to be matched carefully at this point in his career, similar to Hopkins. Against the right opponent he can still do the business, but I don't see too many of those types of opponents on that list. Kell Brook is a bit of a question mark due to his injury.

            Pac B+
            Floyd A
            Thurman B-
            Bradley B-
            Brook B- (pre-injury)
            Porter C+
            Khan B-
            Alexander C+
            Marquez C+
            Maidana C+

                Crap list.

Brook's only notable win is against Porter, who you rate as D+, and you rate him A- for that. He didn't even totally dominate Porter. That puts him at Floyd's level, above Pac and Marquez. And Khan.... I'd have him losing against most of the giys in the list aside from Alexander.

Khan should beat Alexander, but I also think he decisions Marquez. It's a toss up between him and Bradley, although I'd lean slightly towards Khan. Khan vs Brook is more or less a 50-50 fight. I'd give him a decent chance against Maidana and he'd probably enter that fight as the betting favourite. I think Porter's style more than his power gives Khan problems, in that I don't think he'd necessarily KO him with one punch, but as the fight went on Porter's strength up close would start to tell and he'd start to have more and more success with his wide ass punches and body work. I think Thurman's power is a bad look for Khan, and out of everyone he's the one I'd most expect to stop Amir. I'd also expect Pacquiao to hurt Khan at some point, probably in an exchange. If Khan could fight a fully disciplined fight against Manny, work everything off a long jab he'd have some chance. And I think Mayweather wins, although Khan's speed and activity will present more problems than most people think in that fight.
