Comments Thread For: Photos/Weights: Cleverly, Bellew Trade Heated Insults

Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew exchanged final insults after successfully making weight for their rematch.

The animosity between the pair threatened to boil over as they went face-to-face one more time, but the bitter rivals were eventually separated ahead of Saturday’s fight, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

There was a chorus of boos as Cleverly made his way to the stage, while Bellew was greeted by cheers in his hometown of Liverpool.

Looks like a decent card. Hope Bellew blasts Clev!

Bellew doesn't look in good shape. No definition at all, anywhere. Maybe it's just these pics, but he has muffin tops, no stomach definition and no arm definition in the Mr Universe pose. If he's having to carry fat to stay at Cruiserweight that's not good.

I think Clev takes this. Bellew has just been too emotional about it all. I think Clev has fully got inside his head.

Based on chin shape, Nathan Cleverly wins this fight. Also, I really believe that Cleverly is fighting to redeem himself for his loss to Kovalev, and that he'll fight on until he can live with himself for the beating he took in that fight.

Bellew looks chubby, again. Clearly BS about struggling to make 175.

You do realise it's a 25 lb weight difference?

Bellew definitely struggled to make weight before. Pale, face sunken, very dry, he looked like death on the scales.

He looked fine for the Stevenson fight. He's all talk - wonder what his excuse will be when Clev beats him again.

Bellew was clearly struggling to make 175. His face was always sunken in, and he just looked withered away to nothing.

His body type is actually good for boxing - it's not bad to carry a little excess fat as opposed to muscle. Muscle takes energy, and oxygen via blood flow; whereas fat reserves supply energy.

Plenty of great boxers have that skinny-fat build, for lack of a better term.

Cleverly, on the other hand, appeared to be a natural LHW, and simply moved up to take a new promotional angle, if you wll. Already being a world champion at LHW, albeit a bit of a paper one, and losing soundly to the very best at the weight, he figured it'd be best to try his hand at cruiser, and see if the extra weight helps his chin, punch resistance, energy/punch output (although that was one of hs best strengths was his punch output and work-rate), and power.

Why not? He fgured he's got nothng left to do at 175 as he knows it's futile to try and beat the best, Kovalev.

Cleverly is the one who looks to be carrying the extra "unnecessary" weight. His stomach is bloated looking, implying he's been eating full meals regularly all the way up to the weigh-in. Whgile Bellew probably didn't have to dehydrate 48 hours out lke he did at 175, he still likely had to cut caloric intake properly, meaning he's still good and ready for a nce meal after the wegh-in.

Bellew has the gut of a plumber from Liverpool.
