Comments Thread For: Groves: This is a Risky Fight, But The Right Decision

George Groves is determined to keep himself on course to become the "complete fighter" with a demolition of Denis Douglin in Liverpool on Saturday.

The 26-year-old super-middleweight - who holds the WBC mandatory challenger position with Anthony Dirrell before the end of March 2015 - has elected to take on the southpaw American, who was trained by his mother Saphya, as part of the undercard to the Tony Bellew and Nathan Cleverly rematch at the Echo Arena, which also includes Anthony Joshua and rival James DeGale.

He must seriously be doubting his boxing skills if he thinks this guy's a threat.

I think mentally there is something off with Groves. Anyone else ever get that impression?

He's saying it's risky because if he loses, it fucks up his mandatory shot. I don't think he's trying to play Douglin up but at least he's not completely overlooking him, regardless of his record.

I don't want to see the Groves that fought Rebrasse in there this weekend though.

I thought that too. Its like before Froch 2 he said everything and believed it. Now hes still talking the talk but its like hes lost a little belief in himself (don't blame him).
