Arum and Freddie are the ultimate hype-men:
“The guy carrying the ball is Moonves,” Arum told the Los Angeles Times. “He and I have talked on a number of occasions and he has suggested we see if we can reach an understanding. I assume, without knowing for a fact, that he’s talking to the Mayweather camp.”
According to ESPN’s Dan Rafael, a high-ranking HBO executive has flat-out called this story “more Arum fantasy than reality.”
But, still, the media is conveniently abuzz.
But who knows? Maybe this time the hype is for real. A deal could certainly be ironed out if all involved parties were eager to work together. But nobody’s been eager to do anything but blame the other side for the last five years or so. Forget about Mayweather and Pacquiao and who “really” wants it, any reasonable human being with a working brain can look at the ample evidence over the years and see that neither side has really been pushing for this bout. The reasons for this reluctance are many and better left for another article.
The reality is that that Arum and Team Pacquiao desperately need for fans to see the Algieri fight as some sort of eliminator to Mayweather. They have to see it as something meaningful and not just a bout between a world class icon and a confident club fighter, slapped together because nothing better was immediately available.
It makes sense to dangle the Mayweather-Pacquiao carrot as a promotional tool, when Arum has been doing the same prior to every Pacquiao fight since early 2010. This time, though, he may really need that sales push. We’ll just have to see if people are still eager to buy into the fantasy at the expense of the facts.

You are an uncouth, uneducated, ignorant Mexican (or maybe Puerto Rican? or Dominican? ok, maybe a Filipino)
That said, let's go over some FACTS that you can google up if you want to (you do know how to google for information I presume?)
1) Manny has NOT fought a true WW beltholder since Bradley who is a bum and still has a (dubious) win over Pac
2) Manny forced Oscar to fight at 147 (a weight Oscar hadn't fought at since 1999)
3) Forced Cotto to fight at a catch weight of 145 and if you know boxing then you know that's done to drain a fighter and render them useless
4) A drained Margacheato at 150Ibs
5) Pac lost to Marquez 4 times and even if you were to give the other three fights to Pac which is ok, they were all very close fights. Yet Marquez was destroyed by Floyd
6) Pac goes on to fight Shane who was already a Floyd left-over.
7) Brandon Rios? Really? A moving punching bag and a BUM
8) Chris Algeiri? Really? If Floyd was fighting Rios or Algieri all you idiots would be up in arms
Now, let's look at Floyd's opponents (since 2009 just like your boy Pac)
1) Marques: A guy that most people believe won all fights against Pac. He could not win a single round against Floyd
2) Shane: Had just destroyed Margacheato and was the lineal WW champion holding the WBC belt
3) Ortiz: Had beaten the undefeated Berto (who was better than Algieri and Rios at the time) and was a legit belt holder
4) Cotto: Was a legit belt holder at 154 and Floyd fought him at his comfortable weight and still beat him
5) Canelo: This guy will destroy Pacman if they were to fight at 154 but that's besides the point. Canelo was the one chasing Floyd and his team offered to fight him at catch weight and Floyd agreed. When you idiots criticize Floyd for the catch weight the simple answer is this: Why couldn't Canelo go to 147 if he wanted Floyd so much? Why should Floyd be the one moving up in weight and giving advantage to guys that are so much bigger than him? Common sense amigo, common sense.
9) Maidana was a legit beltholder and Floyd unified the belts. The fight being close or not is meaningless. Floyd still won. The point is, he was a legit opponent at a legit weight.
All these guy were legit opponents in terms of weight class and actual titles held by each. Can you name one single opponent that Manny has fought without catch weights that was a true WW or even a true Junior WW.
Next we are hearing that Pac will be fighting Jesse Vargas. How in the world do you morons justify every opponent that Pacman cherry picks?
Pac may be able to beat Floyd but he has been fighting BUMS over the last 7 years without a doubt.Comment

Not only does Roach doubt CBS, he knows he also doubts Arum (but he can't say it.):
A high-ranking HBO official told me this week that the supposed talks were more Arum fantasy than reality. Still, Arum insisted that they are making headway.
"These are not the caliber of people telling me stuff to massage me on something that isn't true," Arum said. "If I am told the other side is interested and involved and it comes from a source I can rely on, I can rely in it. I'm emboldened this time the fight will happen because I have been informed Floyd will also take the fight. But I don't want to say anything that f---- it up."
Informed by who?
There's also an old saying: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." In the case of this fight, maybe it should be: "Fool me 25 times, shame on you. Fool me 50 times, shame on me," because it was just about a week ago when Arum totally contradicted himself by saying, "Floyd is reluctant to fight Manny Pacquiao, period. If people don't see that by now, they are never going to see it."
Year's ago Arum uttered his most famous quote to a reporter, and, for better or worse, it has stuck to him like glue: "Yesterday I was lying, but today I'm telling the truth."
So which is it? We'll take what's behind door No. 1.
