WBC Super Middleweight Champ Anthony Dirrell

Any news on Anthony Dirrell? He had a decent performance against Sakio Bika in August winning him the WBC SMW title. Since then, I haven't heard anything about him. The SMW division has a lot of depth at the moment and there are a lot of intriguing matchups with him and some of the contenders/titlists at the weight. There's Froch, Groves, DeGale, Chavez Jr., Stieglitz, Kessler, Abraham and others.

    What's he waiting for?

I haven't heard anything official but Groves is his mandatory and Dirrell says he's not interested in that fight. He said he was interested in the Froch fight.

I would quite like to see Froch fight Anthony Dirrell and rematch his brother.

I think not yet. Or yes? His last win was an eliminator fight?

yep, they are waiting for groves to get through his next fight and if he does dirrell will likely make his first defense against groves sometime next year. thats three undeserved title shots for george groves in case you were counting btw. it makes little sense to me, the guy doesnt even seem that popular.

he wants froch as well although froch seems all but obsessed with JCC jr and completely unwilling to fight anyone else at this point. if he manages to hold onto his belt long enough i think dirrell will fight ward if and when his situation is cleared up.

degale is out there too, badou jack is only a few W's away from a title shot with the WBC as well.

Not interested?? WTF. It's his mandatory challenger, what's he gonna do - vacate the title? Pay Groves step aside money? Who's he think he is - Andre Ward?

Dirrell has only fought once this year; he should fight Groves and then look for that big name big money fight.

He is not interested in fighting Groves, and he's especially not interested in defending the title in England, which is where the fight will most definitely take place. He flat out said that's not happening, so we'll see if another Haymon fighter gives up a belt rather than fight someone.

Hilariously, he says Groves hasn't fought good enough competition to earn a shot.
