thats a good list, its obvious im going to disagree with your rankings but thats bound to happen. its pretty clear, that no matter how you rank em, guys like ali, evander, holmes, foreman, louis, frazier will always find their way into the top 10.

Since then I've been looking into the divisions' history once more, watching quite literally hundreds of fights and reading thousands of articles and opinions by ex-fighters, journalists and "experts". This is without a doubt my most in depth list ever. So, here are my top 20 greatest heavyweights ever, write ups for each guy will follow so you know why I chose these guys and why they are placed in this particular order.

        1. Muhammad Ali
        2. George Foreman
        3. Evander Holyfield
        4. Larry Holmes
        5. Joe Louis
        6. Joe Frazier
        7. Lennox Lewis
        8. Mike Tyson
        9. Rocky Marciano
        10. Sonny Liston
        11. Wladimir Klitschko
        12. Ezzard Charles
        13. Gene Tunney
        14. Jack Dempsey
        15. Vitali Klitschko
        16. Jack Johnson
        17. Michael Spinks
        18. Jersey Joe Walcot
        19. Rid**** Bowe
        20. Chris Byrd

I know this will attract a lot of hate from the fanboys but let me complete my write ups on each guy and post them over the course of the coming weeks before you fully judge.

        Alright, let it begin.

to be fair he didnt duck anybody except the sanders rematch which big bro took for him

i would have vitali above him though because h2h i think he beats wlad and h2h he would beat more other great heavyweights than vlad imo

but there is something to be said for longevity and dominating despite the division being really really bad, he has barely lost a round in recent years

              Pretty much.

I disagree with myself sometimes too. I usually have Wlad 10-13th, but I think it's getting harder to have him out of the top 10 when he's been reigning for this long, despite not having GREAT names on his record, he does have some good names one must admit.

I still debate on the Wlad vs. Marciano vs. Tyson vs. Dempsey. Those 4 are fighting for 9-12th on my list normally.

Usually I have Johnson, Foreman and Holmes pretty high up for various reasons.

I should have been more specific. When they Fought each other, Rid**** Bowe was better.

i couldnt personally rank JJ higher up, he was skillful from what I've read and the odd bits of footage show he was quick but a spoiler, more Wlad than Ali or Patterson. In all honesty, it's harder for me to rank heavies pre-Dempsey as they were often very crude and lacked the size or power of guys that came later. I know Dempsey was a puncher but he had immense power, power that could stop the biggest to come since.

I cant justify him being higher, he was extremely limited and his best wins are over faded, old fighters with his title reign being short but fun, although he was often losing to the guys he eventually stopped. He can't be higher than Tyson or Lewis or Holmes.
