Still the Biggest Money Making Fight in the History...
Floyd is fading, that's true. But as of today, even without Pacquiao, he has already been a part of the most PPVs (Oscar De La Hoya), and the biggest money making fight in history (Canelo Alvarez). Now let's see how this Algeri fight turns out.

          by Robert “Big Moe” Elmore:

I penned an article about Top Rank CEO Bob Arum claiming that Showtime and HBO were on board to do the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight in 2015 as told to the UK-based newspaper “The Independent” on September 2nd of this year. At that time, neither Ross Greenberg (HBO sports president) nor Steve Espinoza (Showtime sports president) came forward to support Arums claims. It was later confirmed that Pac was moving back to 140 to finish his career. At least we now know that Arum’s claims that Showtime was on board were correct. According to Espinoza, three months ago, they offered Pac a minimum of 40 million dollars with a 35% percent of the pay per view upside.

Arum told fighthype.com on November 11th of this year that Floyd was reluctant to fight Manny. Floyd has not uttered a word, but it’s very clear that an offer was made. What is interesting about this offering from Espinoza to Arum is that it was offered three months ago and Arum has not answered.

My guess Arum is trying to see what the outcome of Pac’s fight with Chris Algieri will be. But make no mistakes an offer was made. So my question is; judging by the pure concrete evidence that an offer was made, why did Arum pass on the offer? My opinion is this and I will stand by it: I sincerely believe that Floyd and Pac want to fight each other. They really do. I do not think Arum wants it. Strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza has been in both (Floyd and Pac) camps and has said both fighters want the bout to happen.

I’m not going to indulge myself with the past remarks by both fighters because it will be a waste of time. I’m dealing with right here; right now. And now, there is a 40 million dollar minimum offer plus 35% of the pay per view revenue that was made to Top Rank which was turned down by Arum.

Amigo I have been paying attention

If you look at it with unbiased eyes you'll know the reason this fight hasn't been made is because Arum doesnt think PAC will win so the plan all along has been to get as much $ out of PAC, make the fight when PACs on the downslope of his career and earnings. Arums smart he knows how to get every last drop of revenue from fighters.

Yeah I remember take the test , and if Arum was serious about the fight then he wouldn't have turned down a 50/50 offer for potentially the biggest PPV fight ever. He would have kept on negotiating or conceeded.

Your delusional if you think PACs the A side as far as PPV

I don't know who's more full of Sheeeeit Arum or Floyd. Pac is the only one that I can surmise with certainty who really want to meet Floyd in the ring. The other two have their head so far up their asses they're choking on ****. This fight would be big for boxing as we all know. Seems people are either to scared,to greedy or there egos are 2 big and getting in the way . Way to give back to the sport that's been very good to Floyd /Arum/ Pac (by denying the world a great match up) LAME !

pac is a fraud and he knows it. Every time pac has a up and coming fight they
have to mention floyds name for attention and press. We all know who the real draw is. lol

                      October 5, 2012:

Why would Cotto pick Trout (25-0, 14 KOs), a good fighter with a belt but a virtual unknown, over Pacquiao, the global star? What gives?

Money and weight is what gives.

For the 2009 fight, Cotto's deal with Top Rank called for a guaranteed $6.5 million purse, plus a share of the pay-per-view profits. During the Sergio Martinez-Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. promotion last month, Arum told boxing reporters that he offered Cotto $13 million for the Pacquiao rematch and estimated that with strong pay-per-view sales Cotto could earn another $2 million from his share of the profits.

Arum said that when Cotto turned it down, he and Pacquiao went with Marquez for Pacquiao's next fight, just one week after Cotto's.

                      Cotto vigorously disputed Arum's claim.

"The only offer Top Rank ever made us was the same money as in 2009," Cotto told ESPN.com. "[Arum] made the same offer he made in 2009, and we found it kind of funny. That was the reason we decided not to face Pacquiao. That, and they also wanted me to go down to 150 pounds and give him the same advantage that they gave Pacquiao in 2009, a catchweight."

Cotto said he was surprised to read that Arum said he offered him $13 million.

"Bob said he offered us $13 million, but he never came to us with that offer," Cotto said. "He always offered us the same guarantee he offered us in 2009, with the same benefits, and that's not fair. He offered the exact same amount of money. Of course it's a business, but all we want is fair business. You can say to Bob to tell me he made that offer to me to my face, and you will see his reaction.

"Miguel Cotto always agrees to fight the best. I've never said no to anybody, but you need to treat me fairly in business."
