Good article. However there is one glaring error. Klitchko knocked out Thompson twice. There was no outpointing.

Pulev didn’t have the deepest résumé, but he was a legitimate contender who had earned his position as mandatory challenger. He had knocked out fellow prospects in Alexander Dimitrenko and Alexander Ustinov, and he had outpointed aged but capable two-time Klitschko opponent Tony Thompson.Comment

This was as good a (Wladimir) Klitschko fight you will see. It wasn't devoid of clinches, but there was some decent action and some serious offense on display. A lot of folks are criticizing Pulev's performance, but Pulev fought with the right game plan - he just poorly executed it. The blue print to beat Wlad calls for pressure and aggressiveness and roughing him up and punching to the body and head on his clinches. With this blueprint, the fighter has to keep a solid defense - Pulev did not, and paid the price by getting repeatedly caught with Klitschko big power punches.
Give credit to Wlad for keeping his composure against a very aggressive and determined opponent and picking his shots well to score the big KO.
Wlad seems to be stronger and hitting harder now than at any point in his career.Comment

Wlad defines a boxing champion and is great
Boxing Champions like Wlad and Golovkin and Kovalev and Lomachenko are defining boxing and what champions should be like and how they act and look and respect others. Even throw Huck and Froch and Canelo into this mix. A champ has an image to uphold and these champs do that with class and dignity and respect for Boxing. Imagine Wlad or Kovalev or GGG flashy money around or wearing gold bling and having Gold teeth and tattoos? There is an obvious difference between types of champions as in society which is not hard to differentiate and compare. The choice is easy.Comment

Neither Lampley or Kellerman mentioned this, he took Klitschko's jab away from him by keeping his gloves high, Wlad was forced to lunge in with both arms using his right arm to protect the right side of his head. Otherwise there would have probably been more jabs and less left hooks.Comment

I don't get it, it was the same Wlad. Just because threw the left hook 4 times instead of once, he was different? No, he was the same tentative clincher as always.Comment

Pulev did have the right game plan but he is a slow starter who needs a few rounds to get himself properly warmed up. He was too impatient and took the fight to Wlad too early. I think the occasion got to him.

Please let Wlad fight Stivierne and Wilder
Seeing Stivierne and Wilder spread out on the canvas at Wlad's feet out cold would be a great sight for the boxing world. Please let it happen. But neither of those nimwits will fight Wlad ever. Watch.Comment
