    Former career rivals Oscar De La Hoya and Fernando Vargas were reunited at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. De La Hoya's company, Golden Boy Promotions, was staging a Fox Sports 1 televised card at the venue. During his career, Vargas eagerly pursued a showdown with De La Hoya. He finally got his wish in 2002. They clashed at the Mandalay Bay in a unification for the WBC/WBA junior middleweight titles. Vargas started strong but faded down the stretch and was knocked out in the eleventh. At the time of the stoppage, De La Hoya was winning a very close split decision on the official cards.

              Man these guys really hated each other back in the day.

              Anyone know where I can watch the press conference leading up to their fight? Youtube search brought up nothing.

                          Glad to see they are cool now. Glad they buried the hatchet lol this reminds me of when Bret hart ( Oscar ) made peace with Shawn Michaels (Fernando) lol

                              If you search Simbros' fight thread for their careers I believe he has the HBO build up to the fight. Watched it like a week ago

                                      Didn't ruin the credibility of the KO for Oscar, made it look even better for him. 0scar knocke out Vargas while Vargas was on steroids.
