You just answered your own query, why would movie studios back people wanting to make a doc or biopic about a guy most of the general movie going public have never heard of. I, as most boxing fans would, would love to see a movie about Hopkins or Hearns but how many people outside of the sport even know them.
Every one in sports, not just boxing, pales in comparison to the fame and recognition of Ali. Plus, there are few people as compelling as Ali and I can't think of a single sportsman who affected his times, in a socio-political manner, the way Ali did.
Edit: Just want to add I didn't really like this doc, it was too sedate. It didn't have the vibrancy of urgency that a movie on Ali requires.Comment

Incredibly clulessI have to be one of the few who doesn't like Ali. In my honest opinion one of the most overrated fighters in the history of the sport. Plus, I hate his style... he ran more than Mayweather and became brave once his opponent was dead tired. I just find his style very cowardly considering he was such a trash talker. So not interested at all in this. Tyson was a billion times the man and fighter than Ali ever was.Comment

Right, thats why you have negative 0 rep lol and I have 41 times leveled up in karma. That means my opinion matters and is fact, and yours doesnt/isnt. Know your role rookie. I am the FIRST Sith Lord of BoxingScene, you have no idea who you're talking to.Comment
